...
Hi guys.
Just put together my first video for a friend and with the help of a few others.

It's very basic stuff just to 'do the job' but still, I thought I'd share.

Here it is.

Love to know what you all think.
Don't forget to set 1080p quality if you can.

Thanks.

I like the song and it seems I've heard this guy before, probably from your posts in the MP3 clinic. I think he's got some great songs.

For a first try, it's good. Way better than my first try.

You've got only two angles and then finally a third near the end of the song. Then the performer isn't doing anything besides sitting there and singing. This adds up to some boring footage. The song has REALLY got to be good to carry the video and in this case, maybe not.

You need to add more action to the video. Random shots of him in the street or someplace else and singing will help. Maybe loosely tied to the storyline or a line in the song, but not really necessary. Shorter takes of each scene or angle. You don't want to stay too long with one camera shot, 5 seconds then move on. I think it flows smoothly when you sync scene changes with the phrasing of the lyrics.

I think with a song like this, you can get really creative without too much production.

Cool, thanks for posting.

Hey man,
Thanks for the honest feedback.

Have to admit I got the same feeling once it was done.
We did a total of three songs and this is the only one you could call upbeat.

Not to say that the others are perfect (by any stretch), but they lend themselves to the slower paced footage I think.

Thanks for the ideas. I think we'd like to get more experimental like that if there's a next time.

Nice job. Technical comment, try rendering with a different resolution and/or pixel aspect ratio because it's a little squashed in the vertical dimension.

Funny thing, I have that exact tape deck and a pair of those D190s.

Thanks. I'm not sure what could be wrong. AFAIK it's recorded and rendered at 1920x1080 but I couldn't even tell you the aspect ratio.
I'll look into it.

I'll look into it.

Note that I'm referring to pixel aspect ratio rather than the overall aspect ratio. Also look into any letterboxing options.

The weird thing is that it mostly looks right except for the reels on the deck which seem the wrong shape for the angle. Maybe I'm not seeing it right but circles are pretty reliable indicators of aspect ratio correctness.

See, I don't even know what that means, but it's certainly something to look into.
Thanks.

This one isn't 'out' yet. It's much of the same but perhaps the song works better here?

Wow and all of this didn't take you guys very long at all !!!
Seems like only a few short weeks ago you were posting up your first rough mixes in the MP3 clinic.

Yeah man, we surprised even ourselves. We don't have a good track record lol.

Too much time spent in the past nit picking and not actually improving the songs.

6 songs and 3 vids in 3 weeks, plus a website (launching in 2 weeks) and the artwork. Proper team effort.

The plan is to do this every 4 months or so, but I think we'll just aim for one good vid next time instead of 3 simple ones.

I guess the plan this time was just to have several things to 'release' at different times cos the guy is really starting from the bottom rung in terms of fanbase.

Can't see flash view on my Android. Will check it this weekend
