I can't even remember the company name but it was a small portable reel to reel with like 3 inch reels. Made in the mid fifty's and was made in Japan I believe.

Tube or transistor? Most of the transistor "spy recorders" were made in the early 60s. Many brands were made in the same factory in Japan.

I started with a wax cylinder which I cranked slowly while singing and playing guitar with my foot. Then I played it back at variable speeds to apply pitch correction. It was a big hit.

I think that I may have seen your act in the freak side show at the circus!

Sheeeet man I was in under the big top! Main stage! That freak show was a favor to Lobster Boy for plucking my nose hair.

Does an Aiwa count if it played CDs?

It took until the '00's before my Dad by a CD player. But only because his computer came with one.

I lusted over a JVC when I was in school, but never really had any cash for anything other than a rare CD, although I collected tapes back then since they were 1/3rd the price. $3 for a "pro" recording (on tape). With frame-able biography of the artist in 8"x10" form folded up in the cassette casing.

Everyone else around me had those park bench sized blasters. Especially if you headed for the beach in the summer.

To date myself even further, I saw Goonies in the theaters. One of maybe a dozen movies I've seen in the theaters. I didn't even see star wars in the theater (although I was alive and well on opening night). And knew at least a couple peers that bragged about seeing then and 7+ other times after then. In the theater.

You mean apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health???

people called romanes they go the house?????

Yes besides the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health.
What else?

My mom spoiled me rotten so I got a Fisher boom box that would barely fit in my locker. Man I cant believe I remember that shit. Oh yeah, that was just before I discovered drugs. Lost lots of memory after that.

Who, what? Who are you? Why are you on my thread. Where am I?

It counts. Coincidentally, the most coveted collectible spy recorder from the early 60s was made by Aiwa.

I saw Star Wars in the theater - a year after it was released. Took it that long to come to the small town where I lived.

I feel your pain. I scuffed my Fisher up cramming it into the locker on an airplane.
