That's pretty gay that he got banned.

The singing is good and the ssss doesn't bother me. Sounds like it was supposed to be that way. It sounds original and like your own voice. You could probably put more soul into the singing, but it's good how it is...

Well I know you're not going to be able to reply but in case you still look on here to see what people are saying I would like the let you know that I really dig the song. Your voice fits it perfectly and I thought the bass part is pretty cool.

If the ban last for a while e-mail me some of your future songs. I really enjoy listening. Later dude.

P.S. I have been working on that cover but I suck and am not coming up with anything good enough to add to the awesomeness of your tracks.

Yeah... Banning Keith? Pfft. Whatever. So, yeah.. Two things I didn't like about this song: 1. Intermittent piano note played seemed very harsh, sonically. It was like it was distorted. It was only used like 6 times through the whole song. 2. Off-tune vocals. Dude, with a song like this, you've gotta add some serious FX to your vocals, and they'd fit right in - and with auto-tune these days, you should be able to get your vocals snugged right up. The texture of your voice adds a lot to the song. Just gotta get it in tune, and electronicificated somehow to fit in a bit more.

Brilliant work, man. Sounded awesome. Hope the ban is lifted soon.

Banning such a talented, frequent and great contributor to the forum is a crying shame.
This is so true in this case. I don't know this guy personally, but he's always helping everybody in the on-topic forums...in fact he's the only person I've seen giving useful advice in the HipHop forum. I'd like to hear an explanation for his banning (if anybody knows) - he's one of the guys that makes this place interesting and worth visiting over, say... gearslutz.

@kcearl: This song is gnarly, dude. I totally dug the weird feeling it gave me. The weird vocals are just perfect, too - and the sibilance isn't nearly as bad as you think, man. Nobody would notice it if not pointed out. I just put the mp3 into my "weird technoesque" folder as a keeper.

He's not gone very long. Will be back soon enough. I miss him, too. :)

The start reminded me of Ultravox. The vocals sort of stuck out a bit at first, but by the end they seemed to fit much better. Good tune, I like this one

The singing fits the mood, perhaps because it doesn't try very hard. Just experiment with a bit of yelling for the fun of it... stick it down a huge echo and make it a groaning background pad or something.

But seriously, I Love the anti-materialistic vibe. Amp up the pompous "turn to camera" vocal lines... like “your BMW" and “Your success” for example, don't be afraid to really express those lines in "war of the worlds" style melodrama. I know that sounds pissy, but I'm not taking the piss...

Love the way the song kind of crumbles into an Eastern wash.

Keiths about the last guy I'd figure to be banned.....first guy on this site to help me.

@Keith: I like the Egyptian part of the song too, really cool. Alot of great sounds in this one. Nice work. Hope your back soon.

Pete

Ok Keith, I'm not sure what you're accused of doing, but whatever it is, I'm pretty sure you're guilty. Regardless, my hope is that the ban is lifted post-haste.

This sounds very good. The instrumentation is well put together and this doesn't really remind me of anything in particular (wait...maybe a little bit of the Smiths?), which is for the most part a good thing. I like your voice for this but the pitch is kind of an issue at certain points (not that I have great pitch or anything, blah, blah, disclaimers...blah, blah). Otherwise I thought it was pretty solid and not at all happy. The vaguely Arabian melody was simple, but nice. The blend of instruments playing that part sounded cool.

yeah Ive tweaked the voice a little..but Im more interested in the instrumentation as I actually have some control over it so glad the mix was OK..

in regards to the arabic being simple Id say to anyone who cant play a certain instrument just to keep it simple, then at least it doesnt sound like a dogs dinner lol

thanks for listening dude...got your track will give it my full attention after the weekend Pete

I would like to hear the vocals more defined. Louder with some bass rolloff so they cut through the mix. Lots of reverb is good for this.
Other than that it all works for me in a musical and technical sense. Love the variety of synths in this. The drums are perfect - simple and droning.

I took your advice...I think the reverb brings up the ssss problem more but some volume automation and EQing are making the vocals a little more bearable..thanks for the comments

Hey Keith, I don't know what you did either, but you won't be gone for very long. Hopefully you're taking the time off to write new material.

Enjoying the song. You've got a real talent for this stuff. When is the CD coming out? I'm ready to buy.

I've got no suggestions for improvement on the mix or anything, I think the vocals sound fine as they are. Any pitch variance is barely notieable.

See ya when you get back.

Thanks Chili...not sure what currency you'll need for the album as Im not sure we shall be using this system of currency by the time I have an albums worth :D

Thanks Phil...I hope they cut your ban down to a slap on the wrist length..Ive seen far worse than your honesty in here..

its like banorama in this place, three in one week...though this isnt the forum its not a good sign

Thanks for listening dude, and I have your email for when they inevitably ban me again (admin has a soft spot for KC)

do you want to try something else for a colab? that stuff was pretty restrictive so if you have any other ideas??

the piano was meant to sound like an old poly kb..was a bit loud, Ive toned it down and shifted its panning...it plays through the whole track but the odd note jumps out (kinda like the original did)

as for autotune...I dont own any pitch correction and Im a one take kinda guy when it comes to vocals....I think if I ever was serious enough about releasing something Id go to a local studio for the vocal part...I have ideas for backing etc but its not going to happen...just got to be happy with what satan gave me :D

Ive added some heavy room reverb and saturation and while sounding a bit detached I like its sound more

thanks for the honest critique as per man :)

Thanks for the cool comments, I never knowingly help anyone...I just dont have anything else to do lol

plus Im one step up from a beginner and I know what its like trying to get a better product from the off

glad you like the tune...its one miserable fucker...the next isnt much better :)

I get the Ultravox bit...the drums and then synth intro are almost Vienna...I wish I had a set of roto toms, Id have them in everything..I see NI have an 80s kit for kontakt and its my birthday next week so pressy coming my way ;)

Cool Tobe.....I could see this developing...I think this summer Im going to get a proper recording area so Im not self conscious about vocals in an apartment

Thanks for your suggestions...Ive been reading up on Bowies recordings in Berlin, Low & Heroes, and would love to try some of the techniques...Im not a singer but I still enjoy it regardless and some different techniques would mask my lack of skill I think

OK I think I caught up...thanks for the comments and listens guys, especially seeing I wasnt here to acknowledge them..Ive been tweaking it all week so I think its better than the initial post and coincides with many of your comments
