Sorry to say man...your wrong.

A frettless can be setup just like any other instrument.
Of course it can; no one said otherwise. He said that a setup won't help you play a fretless in tune.

Funny this talk of fretless basses. I'm doing a five string fretless build right now. Makes a nice change from the regular stuff.

Just to bring this thread back on topic.
What exactly is dressing frets?
Fret dressing is the process of levelling and polishing frets so they play cleanly and without buzzing with as low an action as the guitar setup will allow. It's part of a good set up.

I'll stick with my Iby ;) Maybe in the future I'll get one.
Good choice but a nice Martin is a thing of beauty..

I'm gonna bring it in to get it set up next week. All will be revealed then :)
Another good choice.;)

I'm also gonna get something called Tremol-No, which could be incredibly useful.
Hold fire on that until you have had a decent setup done. Also speak to the guy or gal that does it for you about that piece of kit..
Even with the tuning/buzzing problems, I still LOVE this guitar. The look, sound, and feel of it are all amazing. She'll be perfect soon :D
THAT is the most important thing.:)

My fretless didgeridoo is acting up. Should I get that set up too?

Hey Phil.....If it's a ZR trem and it's acting up a bit, that round thingy on the upper part of the trem (the area where your wrist rests, is an intonation tool. Unscrew that and use it to intonate. It's pretty simple actually. I've got a few Ibby's with ZR's. You shouldn't have to mess with springs at all if it's got the ZPS system in it (the roller wheel in the back). ZR's arent' actual "floating" trems perse, since they have back tension springs.

And maybe I'm speaking out of turn here....I haven't been over here for many moons...

Well there's a few other problems with it so I'm bringing it to get it set up. Might aswell get the guy who knows what he's doing to do it. Maybe then he can teach me a few tricks. Although, if he's an arsehole, he might teach me the wrong things, or not at all, so that I'll give him more business in future.

Forget it PhillBagg just forget it, just shot it right in the head stock and get it over with.
