Way ta go BaggDude....See what ya started?

:laughings: :laughings: :laughings:

my thoughts are that if you're not comfortable with the set ups, find a good tech that'll walk ya thru it and explain why he's doin it.

Then bring him the big jobs when they come around and some free word-of-mouth advertising when ya have a buddy that needs guitar work.

:drunk:

I don't know why, but it seems that whenever I start a thread in the guitar forum it causes a lot of ruckus. The "boiling your strings" thread with VP was the big one. Calm the fuck down ya bastards!!

:D

That's a good point Dog, if I like anybody that does a good service for me I always recommend them, in the same way I'd like to be referred to good people when I want something done :)

...like a boob job :D

Don't forget the talc and remember VP's strings magically adjust the tension as they get older so be careful they don't take you're eye out.

Did you see my other question in the fuckheadphil thread? When you sending me that neck?

I completely trust VP, so don't naysay him. What the hell do you know anyway?

:laughings::laughings::laughings:

What fuckheadphil thread? Link me :)

TBH, I got the new guitar and put off getting the BC Rich sorted for a while, especially while I'm payin off the Ibanez. And now, I'm savin for a holiday in Ibiza in two weeks. Maybe when I get back I can get together the cash to send it over to ya, I'll look after you well in return for your patience :)

:o
Sorry...no idea what came over me. :o
Could be my constant abuse of talcum powder.

:D

Dog, this is an intervention :(

Have a seat.

:D

That's not creepy at all.... :o

;) :D

MULTI, I just saw your comment in the other thread, however the response is still the same :) I highly doubt you're in any rush to get it though :)

I didn't scan every comment to see if you were truly answered on this, but if you just bought this new..and it's an Ibanez S series....I noticed you didn't mention having your frets dressed...only on the top models and not even then will a guitar arrive from the factory set up or even having the frets properly dressed. I immediately take a new guitar to my guy here in town and have the frets dressed and intonation set and check the truss rod. that's your best answer always. I can do intonations and action and minor truss rods adjustments myself, but as for dressing frets, I leave that to the pros and even then I will make slight adjustments after I get it back just cause he can't possibly know exactly how I like my setup even though I have dealt with my guitar tech for 25+ years.

By a Martin - You will never regret it I have had mine since 1968- plays as good as the day I bought it .

I just bought a second hand fretless bass guitar that wouldnt stay in tune.

I looked down the neck and it was slighly concaved a bit so I adjusted truss rod so the neck was more flat...then I adjusted string height and intonated.

Perhaps a truss rod adjustment is needed.

What exactly is dressing frets?

I'll stick with my Iby ;) Maybe in the future I'll get one.

I'm gonna bring it in to get it set up next week. All will be revealed then :)

I'm also gonna get something called Tremol-No, which could be incredibly useful.

Even with the tuning/buzzing problems, I still LOVE this guitar. The look, sound, and feel of it are all amazing. She'll be perfect soon :D

Wow great reply.. Which Martin do you recommend that has a three pickup solid body floating bridge spec?

Some people like Kahlers on their Martins.
I, for one, care less for them.

Im not sure why my post was so funny...I dont really get the humor.

What Im saying is he may need to adjust truss rod.

Explain to me why thats funny...I dont get it.

--------------

The reason the guy sold the bass to me was because he couldnt keep it in tune however I fixed it...I guess thats funny...

We ain't laughing at you dude but think about it.;)

A fretless instrument and the note it produces is entirely dependant on where you stop the string with your finger. You have every possible pitch from the open low to open high strings at your disposal depending on where you fret the string. There are no frets to dictate the string length that bit is down to technique..

A good setup would certainly make playing it easier but it won't make it play "in tune" any better. That bit is down to technique.

If you have tuning stability isssues that is another matter entirely and a truss rod adjustment and intonation setup isn't going to do it for you.

Sorry to say man...your wrong.

A frettless can be setup just like any other instrument.

Go easy, man. He didn't say nuthin' 'bout no falcum.

We shall see where it goes. He now has the basic info needed to make a call on this one. I shall handle it based on that.:)

I play hard but I ALWAYS play fair..
