I had this here a couple of months ago but had some comments about pitch issues, so I went and redid what needed fixing. I ended up retouching almost everything so this is a completely new mix. Would sure appreciate your comments. Lyrics-collab with RayC.

Joey :)

HEY! i remember the thread discussing the lyrics to this... fuckin sweet...

This is the first i have heard the audiable version.

And it sounds good. Nothing really wrong with pitch issues? Where? Like in the Vox?

Crashes are really up and out there. I might pull em back just a hair? Actual sound is of them is stellar though. Frig.

Thanx AT!
Ok, note no.1....crashes a little lower
Yeah, in the original version, I had a couple of singing notes that weren't in place, so I had to fix that...;)

ok i'll giver another listen later tonight for sure with some phones...

I was actually listening to the last mix this morning in North Sydney (was there whilst Mrs was undergoing dental surgery) so this is a weird moment of synchronicity from my persepctive.
The mix:
#1 - superb performance vocally & instrumentally
#2 - terrific mix - though the cymbals may not be too lous but too splashy (is that an adjective?).
#3 - you made my daft words (the 1st verse) sound important so that makes you a superstar.
#4 - vocals no longer have pitch issues to my ears (mind you I quite liked the humanity that the "issues" gave the last mix)
#5 - wait for Rami & Greg's feedback on the cymbals - they has such a good ear generally & with drum levels specifically that anything I say is irrelevant
#6 - I REALLY dig this.

Thanx Ray,
that verse fit so well to my melody and to think that you hadn't even heard the tune when you wrote it.....
Yeah, let's hear what the drum pros say about those cymbals.;)

Nice job. The music in the intro sounds like In Flames. That is a really good thing to my ears. I think everything was really well done here. You may want to kill me but your vocals remided me of the dude from Stryper when you held the longer notes with alot of vibrato. This was a cool tune...if anything at all i would pull the cymbals back a touch. I like loud drums, and not so loud cymbals. Just my preference.

Thanx Man! Yeah that seems to be the consensus with the cymbals, so I'll be reviewing them for sure. Stryper? Jesus, I need to change something.....:D

almost clinical how you nail this genre...great...huge...performance Mr m

the cymbals definitely dont sit well...its not that they are bad samples...they just dont sound like theyre from the same kit as the drums...

apart from that 100% dude, in fact its just about to start its second play ;)

Hi, Joey!

Vocals is killer! - performance and tone- and sits pretty well in the mix.

Mix (except great vocal tone, as I said) has a lack in the mid region (basically 200 to 1,5k) - it takes bass guitar and guitars, which sounds without the "meat" (for my taste...)
I think guitars could be benefit from a wider panning/stage.

Overall performance is excelent as usual.
Ciro

Thanx Keith, you're too kind....;)
One thing I have learned doing this is to at least try to be meticulous when tracking, even if it takes ages. Then it's much easier to mix. The cymbals really aren't part of the same kit.....:D

Hey Ciro!
I'll have to check that again with the mids. On the systems I've played it up to now it didn't seem to lack them. Guitars are panned 75, 85, 100, three on each side. Don't know if that's a good idea panning them wider. But anyway, I have to fix the cymbals, so I'll be mixing again.
Thanx for the great comments! :)

Yeah I think the cymbals are just too loud. Just bring em in some and get em sitting with the rest of the kit. The rest sounds A-OK. I really like the warbly electric gtr fade-in. Made me feel nauseous. :D

Thanx, bro!
The warbly thing is a guitar sampled backwards. Yeah the cymbals have to come down a bit, but they sound so good I got carried away.....;):D
