String tension experiment

Crud, corrosion, wear from frets... These all compromise the uniformity of density and flexibility along the length of a string, which introduces alien harmonics into its vibrational spectrum. This sounds bad. Change your strings when this happens.

hi vp, i thought about this before but thought it would be dumb to offer, but thought i would anyways today. i have seriously old worn out under all condition strings you could use for your experiment if you want me to send them to you. its from a guitar that's been kinda passed around for the heck of it, and the strings on it are well over 5 years old i know this for sure. and they've been through the total ringer of all types. i lotion my hands alot, i usually make sure to have it off when i play but with this guitar i've (nothing against this guitar i'm extremely attatched to it) but with this one i've just played with it on anyways sometimes.

my greatest annoyance is restringing and tuning, so i spose its about time anyways:) so if you'd like me to send them to you, let me know & i will. Trust me they are OOOOOOLD WORN WEATHERED & STIFF & CHEMICALLY ALTERED!!!!:D

anyways, let me know & good luck:D

That would be good only if you are 100% sure of the type and size string. Do you still have the package in the case?

i have no idea, it was actually around 7 years ago that my dad gave me this guitar (after thinking about it, not 5 like it thought), and he got it from his brother who had it with still those same strings for i don't know how long.. knowing where they've been they probably have oil on them too.

so that's a bummer if you can't use them then, because i don't know any more details about them other than they are extremely old processed etc. no big deal:D just thought i'd offer
