You're making a record right? At 11 seconds, in cut one...at the end of the drum fill...there's a dead space....is that an edit?

Back to the tracks.....

Good listens! Best of luck on the record. It's really got an appeal for me...I hear the influences...and it brings me back to 17 again. Good cheep weed, Boone's Farm; and sex was new..and always good.

That space will be edited, just wanted to provide the mastering guy with space for fades:)

thanks mate

LOVE the music. My only negative might be that it sounds like it was recorded in the 70's. Performances are great and some good sounds. Sounds like 1974 drums and song writing to some degree. That's either good or bad.
But I'd think it'd have some tough competition with stuff with the "2009" sound.

Thanks, as I`ve said on numerous occasions.
I try my utmost to get it to sound 70`s.
To me there is no other sound:D

So I take that as a huge compliment:cool:

Hell, I'm sold!

Strangely wonderful! Shades of Genesis, Jethro Tull, Caravan, and (as I've stated before) Crimson, Yes, Nektar...I've been lamenting the early to mid 70's progressive scene for years, preferring to lose myself in the music of the Flower Kings, and Theives Kitchen (these days), but now I can add you guys to the list. Nicely done!

Now, I'm listening to the 2nd tune...

Even the imperfections feed the song. This number has the same vibe as old Marillion (the Fish era). I really do feel like I'm in a time warp. Keep 'em coming, or at least let me know where I can download your tunes...great stuff!

Thanks, for the nice compliments I`ll pass it on to the band.:)

Thanks these were the last two`s for now.
Sending it too mastering tommorow

I`ll post a link when its done.
We`ll be doing a cd and an LP:)

Man, these sound GREAT Nak! You've mastered that '70s sound for sure. I can think of about 100 guys right off the top of my head that have been trying for years and would love to know how you did that!

Can't wait to hear the mastered version!

Great job!

You have the 1970s sound nailed down!

Do me a favor!

Don't go looking to record the hair band sound of the 1980s! ;):D

Think of the discipline it takes to go for such a dated sound. Not squishing the fuck out of the drums, Not grabbing the latest gear you got....it would be hard for me because modern recordings and modern technology have spoiled me. I'm not a huge fan of retro but indeed you have it nailed. absolutely well done.

Thanks mate, It means the world to me hearing that.
I`ll be hounest and say I dont know shit about normal sound 2009 sound.:D
I`m very atracted to the sound they had in the 70`s it just sounds organic and real to me.

I wish I had analouge equipment sutch as a tap recorder and compressors and sutch, but my wallet says no (wallet nickname for wife):D

I run every single track throug compressor, to simulate a slight tape compression.
I use stronger compression on bass vox and drums.

Most of the equipment we use is slighlty 70`s as well, drums from 69 bass prescission reissue 75, guitar 74 fender, and then we did use vst`s on the keys, and ran em out through a jazz chorus on the rhodes and fender blues junior on the organ.
all dubs went into a tl audio tube preamp:)

I was also fortunate enough to borrow a U87 from my boss.

thanks

Thanks, I try to use what I think they had available in the 70`s. so I stay away from the modern sounding stuff, as best as I can.

thanks.

+1 on the Marillion comment.

I think the drums could be louder overall. Brass is coming across okay, but the kick, toms, and snare could jump up a little more.

Nice stuff, Naka. Where are you getting the disc mastered?

I love your voice - do you have any clips of these performed live?

thanks casey, we have something in common with the voice admiration, you sing damn good yourself.
Your harmonies are just pure class:)

I`ve given the drums a bit of boost, yesterday, when I made the last adjustment before sending them to the uk today.

were getting our stuff mastered at Tube Mastering, Andrew Jackson, Pink Floyd and David Gilmours engineer.
Just talked to him today, he said I`ll have i back in a weak.

small live sample of the shuffle flute tune, bear in mind its a crappy zoom h2 recording in the audience.

The tune was just put together at this moment, the lyrics werent even done:D

Just as good as all your other ones, Nak.
The arrangements are simply brilliant! Organs, flutes guitars all blending well together and I love your voice! This is gonna be a classic CD.

Joey :):):):)

I burned these last two onto a disc with the others from the album as far as aI could work out.
Played them on a very good stereo (JVC quad amp through AR speakers and an old early 70's Marantz CD player - all bar the CD very good early 70's gear -)with some decent volume and they all just seemed to get on beautifully together.
Very nice work - I played the "album" twice through!
