Sansamp Bass driver DI

I got myself a used Sansamp bass driver DI over ebay yesterday. After all the good things I heard about it, I had to try it out. I gotta say I'm pretty impressed by it. I'd been recording with a miced bass amp and direct DI which I then mixed together, but with this baby I can just go direct. I'd like to hear more opinions about it, especially your favourite settings, even though it's actually quite a simple tool.

the Sansamp a bit more than just a Transparent DI box,IMO it is basically a preamp with a direct out it is a good piece of equipment with a very good tube amp and speaker simulator however I do like my Behringer Bass V-Amp Pro a bit better because it Is much more versatile with a butt load of effects for less than what the Sans Amp cost me however it is no where near as portable as the Sansamp. Great piece of gear without a doubt

Awesome thing to possess.
Even though I've got decent enough gear and all the soundmen on gigs have their own DI-boxes... It never leaves my basses hardcase.
I'm kicking myself right now since I didn't thought of it recently when doing some recording..

Oh, on a couple of gigs the soundmans DI-box couldn't handle the output of my active bass. Sansamp could.

No matter how good are your rigs, a good DI is always nice to have around.

I know more than one bass player who takes the Bass Driver DI to gigs without an amplifier on stage at all. As long as you have a good monitor system, it'll save your back in the long run. I tried it once, and of course the soundman tells me his monitors are so bad that my bass will sound like crap, '...so bring an amp next time!' Thanks. And I know one bass player who goes even further and uses the programmable 3-channel Bass Driver, and of course without any stage amplifier. I cannot imagine me getting away with it (bad Kharma), but I offer the idea as something to try and have success with yourself.

Joey, every thing I've heard about is doubel plus good. It's out of my price range so I settled for a Behri BDI21 which is, for the price & for double the price, a terrific piece of gear.
I hope you have success with it - you've managed some excellent bass tones with out it so it'd be a case of aking life easier I suppose.

I just got the BDI21 the other day, and I love using it for recording, I get some pretty great tones out of it.

Yeah, I was lucky to have some money left over from my birthday so I got it off ebay, Ray. Even there, it still fetches a good price. Holding it your hand, the first impression is that it's a really solid build and can take a beating. The sounds it produces are very distinctive and present with variable distortion, which is just right for my style. Yes I think it will make life easier....
I've heard a lot of good things about the Behri too, though.

been loving the Sansamp for years, I also had a Sansamp RBI. Basicly the driver DI in a rack pre-amp with better routing. It's also fantastic. Durable as all hell, super clean signal, ballsy as can be.
