Hey, I have a Made in Mexico P Bass. I just installed a Seymour Basslines pickup last night that I bought from Musicians Friend. While i was at it I polished all the metal and screws on the Bass. That took forever BTW. I noticed my G string tuning mechanism is loose. It's just a crappy machine job, I can't get it to work correctly because the tolerances seem to be off. So I figured since I upgraded the pickups, maybe I should go all out and turn this Mexican bass into a decent P Bass. I figured I would buy new tuning pegs, possible a chunkier bridge, new knobs, and a new pickguard.

Then I went to musicians friend and found that they only have one replacement bridge, shitty selection of pick guards, no replacement tuners, and not much for knobs.

So where would you recommend to get this stuff, and do you have any recommendations for tuners and a bridge?

The bass is cream white, I was thinking of replacing the white pickguard and knobs with a color or black instead.

Here ya go:

When you are looking for tuners, search for "machine heads"; that way you'll not have to sort through a whole slew of electronic tuners and such.

if you want to further improve your tone i would look at a sadowsky onboard preamp they can be purchased at www.sadowsky.com they sound phenomenal

also if you email them they might be able to put together a loaded pickguard for you with pickup and preamp or, just email them and tell them what your doing and I'm sure they would be willing to help you out

also i would get a Bad Ass Bridge you can find them at a ton of places by simply googling, they also appear quite frequently on ebay

I went ahead and bought a black pickguard, black metal knobs with white pearl centers, and black strap buttons. I have plans to purchase a Gotoh 201 black bridge, and I would like some black tuners but I'm still stuck on that one. I saw some on ebay for $25, yet they 16:1 gear ratio

My bass is cream white, so this should be a really great custom look.

I got the parts from this guy www.azguitarparts.com thru ebay. He had the exact same parts, for less than half of Stews or Allparts. It's crazy how all over the map this stuff is in terms of price. I've seen the exact same bridge swing $30 depending on the store/seller.
