What would be the best way to sync lock these together

Hi,
The simple answer is that you would lock the two machines together with smpte.
You record smpte onto track 24 of the MSR (track 24 has a option to turn off the noise reduction on that track only for time code use). The SX should be able to generate smpte on a smpte output so that you can record it to the MSR.
When you have the smpte recorded, you connect track 24 out to the smpte in of the SX. You then use the MSR as the master machine and set the SX to slave to chase the smpte time code. When you hit play on the MSR the SX should lock and play from that location.
The reason you use the MSR as the master is that it takes longer for the tape to rewind and play than the SX instantly finding the position and locking up. Also the MSR can't lock to smpte without an external synchronizing device.

Thank you Allen looks like i will have to replace lcd as it has some
bad line though it. dont seem you can get to machine control page on vga screen only on lcd, I do have mts 1000 but no manuel would this work
till i get lcd fixed

You don't need to use a MTS1000 as the SX will chase the time code from the MSR, but I believe the MTS1000 would be useful as a remote for the MSR.
You would still use the MSR as the master machine but controlled from the MTS. The MTS also can generate smpte for striping track 24 of the MSR with code.
Maybe some MTS1000 users are around with more information?
