reaper isn't even an option! haha
that shouldn't suprise me though.

I love threads like this with nonsense titles... kind of like it was written in Chinese and translated with the Google language tool.

I don't think Reaper existed in 2001 when this thread was started.

I am new to this forum. Now I know to look at the dates. Although, I do wish reaper was around then so I would never have gotten caught up with other programs I have come to dislike.

Reactions: XLR
Furity Loops for beat construction.

Beat Slicer for sample editing.

Cool Edit for sampling and multitracking.

Peace

If you really know what I'am talking about..............

You need different tools for different jobs.
I use Reason for sequencing and arranging.
I use Logic Platinum 5, (yes still running the windows version better than ever)
for orchestrating, arranging and exporting my reason sequences to.
And finally,Samplitude Master for recording and final mix downs

i use nuendo for years. It is the first program i ever tried and i stuck with it.

Just switched to Reaper from PT. Love it. Love it.

I also use:

reason (love it)
fruity loops (used to love it before I got reason, still has its uses)

Nuendo for multi track recording- when i have a live band.
Pro Tools 8
Reason 4.

I have started live recording and used Tracktion 3 with no issues as well for live work I have a HD-24 in the system as well.

I use a Yamaha O1V96 for monitor / extra inputs and a RME audio Fireface 800 and a REM audio Octa mic 8 D

The computer is rack mounted (Built by me for me for my DAW)

I have no issues with the set up.

haven't even used my Mac G5 in weeks - using my new dual-core Windows laptop with Win 7 - it's super sweet! Used Sonar Producer and just today got Presonus's Studio One - a GREAT DAW! The demo is available to download - I like it so much I'll probably purchase next week. I love Logic Studio and my Mac but am TOTALLY IMPRESSED by Windows 7 - it's a beautiful, fast, sleek OS. Finally a Windows that impresses an old die-hard Mac user! Sonar and Studio One are really nice too - heck I may SWITCH BACK

There's so many great FREE amp sims (Acmebargig, Nick Crow, Lepou, etc.) and loads of FREE VST's and most all the new goodies being released daily are Windows only... I'm ordering a bare-bones from Tiger Direct shortly and gonna build a killer quad-core machine with a 22" monitor (or 2), 1 or 2 Terrabyte drives, etc for about 1/3 the cost of what a new Mac would set me back (my G5 is 1st gen from 2005). Apple dropped support for the PowerPC chip Macs (mine) and their new OS - Snow Leopard - won't even run on my Machine so I'm mad! I just spent hundreds on Logic Studio 9 a month ago but Apple isn't getting any more from me. I'm gonna be a PC WEENIE :p

Windows 7 is Amazing. I've used Macs for years and never thought I'd go back to Windows but Win 7 did it - I LOVE THIS OS! I'll install Ubuntu on a seperate partition as it's fun too - ARDOUR is a great Open-Source DAW.

just getting back into music. I edit video projects with vegas 8.0, but I've been toying with sonar home studio. Sonar is a little complicated for me sometimes, so i'm leaning towards vegas

wow I mist the forum. The set up i have is similar to yours. I have a 24 channel phonic fire wire mixer, Pro Tools HD. built my computer as well to my specs. I believe great records can be made ITB in this era of great native plugins, and the right knowledge. IMO cheers!!!

Cubase SX3

I use Cubase SX3... started with cakewalk bout 10 years ago, and switched to Cubase. I use either Sony Sound Forge or Cubase to master and FL Studio for drums, usually rewired.

Have used the Helix series of boards (test drive) Not a bad board for the money I do like the post gain or post fader switches on the unit.

My signal chain when doing live recording work is snake to O1V96 then ADAT to Alesis HD24 hard disk recorder then ADAT to the RME audio Fireface 800 firewire to the computer.
Two recording sources so if one fails still got it recorded

Or just all the above minus the computer / Fireface. and loop back via ADAT to the O1V96 so channels 1-16 are the input then the out put of the HD24 is fed to channels 17-27 for mix down if needed. I am just using 16 channels on the HD24 out of a 24 channels or if the other 8 are needed I use a RME audio octa 8 and set up the Fireface 800 for stand alone mode for the other 4
