Beagle, you at least admitted that you didn't read the whole thing, so it's a fair question. It has been answered a few times, and many people who's opinion I respect, like Southside Glen, actually explained it better than I did.

It's not about rap per say. But, I don't know too many (or any) rockers copying Led Zeppelin samples, singing over them , and then calling themselves "producer". If there were many of these, I'd have started the same type of thread about them, too.

And since I like a lot of hip hop, it's not about all hip-hop producers. Many are legit and successful.

one wonders how you might feel about the fact that led zeppelin directly ripped off at least 30 of their songs from blues and pop artists ...

they took their exact songs but played it with their instruments.

at least its not calling yourself a "producer"

The difference is: At the end of the day, I still have my car in full for me to use and often a profit for rights to use the bit of my car that I let them take. If I didn't let them take it, I still have my car and I'm not going to lose any business because someone is using a melted down version of my car that they duplicated.

One doesn't need to wonder how I might feel, because that was discussed for about 2 pages earlier in this thread. They got sued on many occasions and lost, rightly so. And before you try to corner me with your Columbo skills by asking me why I didn't start a thread about that, the answer is that I have started a thread about it in the past.

I'm sorry, but your penchant for Earth Wind and Fire and that talentless hack Bob Rock has branded the label of "This Person: Unable to Give Insult" directly on where your soul would be if your musical preferences didn't severely put it's existence in doubt.

I love that the guy responsible for SO MUCH unoriginal stylistic regurgitation is daring to insult people who merely use other people's music as a starting point. At least they ripoff people with talent and use the results to sound new and inventive (sometimes).
