Hey guys,

I'm trying to figure out the tempo of a song using Beat Detective but not sure how to. Any advice?

Thanks in advance:D

Beat detective is a really advanced tool. It's more than a few words can tell you how to use. I found this great training site that for about 29 bucks a month you have access to the whole video library on all versions of pro-tools... I learned how use reason from this site as well and from time to time i renew my membership to view the new videos.

Great site. Thanks for the link.:D

I'd use Identify Tempo to find the tempo of a song instead of BD

Where can I get that? Does it come with Pro Tools?

yes, should be in your edit menu (although they might have moved it in recent PT versions....just look around the menus)
You select a 4,8,12 bar phrase or whatever (has to be EXACT...put PT in loop mode and see if the loop feels natural), and then run identify beat. When you put in the measure numbers PT finds out how long it takes to play those measures and calculates the BPM for it.

I see it in the Event menu but it's disabled. How do I enable it? I use PT 7.0.
