Who played the rest?

:D

You already know what I am going to say...

holy shit... I think you went pitchy

On the words 'final ascension'... just a little bit, and only on the first time you sing it...

Other than that, damn.... your voice is the shiznit.

now let me get off your nutsack and let someone else give you some feedback.

Damn, Eddie you're really listening aren't you...:D
Yeah I heard that while I was tracking. But then I rememberd Bruce Dickenson does that too sometimes (on Moonchild), so I let it pass as intentional. It's kind of a way of giving character...think I should fix it?

bozmillar - Hey, that's cool. Sounds very Iron Maideny.

YEAH, MAIDEN RULE....:D:D:D

Thanx for the comments!

This tune rules, this is the metal I grew up with. You have an amazing voice for metal and it's showcased here. Great song!

Hmm, im not a huge fan of the rythm guitar sound, sounds very digital. The leads are a bit high in the mix for my liking. Other than that the mix sounds good. Good vocal sound.

Yeah there's some classic metal sounds happening here. All these jackassed kids doing screamocore or whatever that cookie-monster screaming shit is called need to listen to this to hear what metal is supposed to sound like. Yeah it's old school, but it is what it is. This is the metal sound.

Everything sounds fine to me except for the kick and snare. Programmed, right? The snare sounds a little over-compressed and/or not loud enough. The kick sounds fine during the quieter passages, but it gets lost quickly once shit gets heavy. It could maybe use more attack to help it cut through.

Overall the song and mix is great. Awesome vocals.

Chamelious, Thanx for your comments!
This was actually the first song I recorded with my Vox AD30 and I was still getting used to it's sound. Probably the mic placement wasn't all that good but I'm practising.... I'll check those leads again.

Cheers

Hey Greg,

OLD SCHOOL, BALD HEADS RULE!:D:D (damn, that even ryhmes....!)

Man, coming from you, this one hell of a compliment!
The kick and the snare are the 2 things I spent most time on, but they still don't sound like they should. Yeah, they're programmed, cos I don't have a drummer to record them for me (nudge, nudge, wink, wink.....)

So hey, do you know a great drummer who's crazy about the Ramones, is a great fisherman and plays and records like a god, who would maybe like to play them for me?:D

Cheers and thanx

Please allow me to join the back slapping session. But seriously, that's my only option after hearing this: great job! It's what home recording's all about to me--pulling together a bunch of great pieces making an even greater sum--one that sounds beyond home recorded.

Very cool...

Phew, Bob, I'm speechless.....I don't think it's prfect, but It's good to feel like I'm learning. Mostly thanx to to you guys on this site;) The thing I love most of all in your stuff, is that it sounds so honest and hand-made. But a lot of other guys here do that and that's great. Damn, this site is actually starting to feel like family.....

Thanx and cheers:D

Lol. You smooth talker! :D

Um, I'd like to, but this isn't really my style of playing. Your song is great and I like it, but I don't know if this is in my wheel-house. I'm not really a "metal" drummer. I'm more a straight-ahead rock/punk kind of knucklehead. I appreciate the offer, but I don't think I'd do your song justice. :o

No problem, Greg...
who knows maybe some time I can come up with something more your style;)

Good recording, excellent performances, really cool song. Thanks for sharing.
How did you track the lead guitar? I love that sound!

Thanx man,

the leads I played were recorded with just an SM57, about a foot away from the amp, then a little compressed and with some delay on them. I used 2 different guitars for the harmonies, an ESP classic Strat and my LP copy, a Jack'n'Danny (don't know if you know them in the US...). Rhythm gits are 6 in all, each one with a different amp setting, 2 on each side, 2 almost in the middle but a lot lower than the others. Again I used both guitars.

Chris tracked his solo in his studio with an amp sim (don't really know which one...)

Cheers
Joe

As others have said, you did an excellent job with this song. That sudden break of total silence near the end: really tight and well done.

My only complaint was the cymbals. It sounded like you might have had a really good, driving beat with them, but they were too splashy and quiet to really tell.

Otherwise, really good job!
