I've recorded this on my home PC via soundcard (guitar-> distortion pedal->pc), its just guitar and drums (beatcraft) but when you listen to it on headphones, it sounds sorta empty...

No effects added.

its www(.)sendspace(.)com/file/bkvxpw

ps. The brackets are coz i dont have 5 posts yet and you cant post url's unless you have 5 posts....apparently

Yea. I hear what you mean. And I think I've diagnosed the problem.

There's no bass or vocals.

I know there's no bass or vocals.
Would adding a bass guitar really make that much difference?

(lets leave the vocals aside for now, we're working on em)

A) Yes

B) You won't know/and or believe it til you try.

Give it a shot. Then if it feels "empty" it might be worth discussing...

It's also missing an actual drummer.

And a guitar amp, too.

But I figured you probably already knew that and I didn't want to be a smartass.

:D

In my opinion, if you end up using a lot of digitally made samples and record stuff direct, it ends up not sounding "live".

FWIW--when I first replied a few posts ago, I hadn't even listened to your clip. I still replied because the apparent lack of a bass guitar and your subsequent question (Would it really make that much of a difference) warranted my reply--even without a listen.

Now I've listened. Assuming you have the resources, try adding a bass line. It really will make that much of a difference. :D

Alright, Thanks!
I'm getting one of them RP250 processors soon. Since i don't have an actual bass/don't know a bassist, i'll probably use the bass emulator on the processor to record in.

And to Daisy,
I wanted to connect my amp but it humms a LOT and the recording quality is crap then. I know it would souind better with an amp but i cant seem to get around that particular problem.

And also,
This thread is great. :D Thanks!

Bit random...no?

Get a new amp. I'm not trying to be a wit or put you down, but (again, not actually having listened) a great amp will get you a great recording, and any half-decent amp will certainly help you on your way there!!
