Tascam 38 / 48 feet (anyone have 'em?)

Hi guys,

My 48 is missing the feet (and screws) that go at the bottom, which allow the recorder to be placed upright. (These seem to be common for the 38 as well and maybe others but I dunno). If you have a spares machine, can you help me out?

EDIT: The part #, from my manual, is 5800288502

Daniel, did you try Tascam? Because I bought some for my 38 just over a year ago. It didn't come with screws but they can tell you what size to buy at the hardware store.

Steve, I just got the shipment of feet + screws in the mail, new, direct from Japan. I understand that no more are left anywhere. I guess I was lucky. It was pretty expensive (for feet) but well worth it. ($28 + shipping). It's perhaps a trivial question but do you know if it's required to use WASHERS with the screws? Any benefits of doing so and if yes, then which type to use? Thanks.:)

Daniel, Glad you got the feet. I didn't use washers. I had to buy the screws myself, they just sent the feet. But I never had any problems with them and I must have removed them about a dozen times. It probably wouldn't hurt to use some typical flat washers beneath the screw head if you can find some small enough.

Thanks Steve. Yeah, the ones I received were from http://www.openreel.net/index_e.html

I've ordered from these guys many times and always am amazed at the level of professionalism and service. The feet I received were in a special plastic pouch, right along with the 8 screws (a separate compartment for the screws). I emailed them for a follow-up (to ask about washers) and they said they're not needed but that I should not over-tighten the screws. Maybe I'll get some washers anyway or maybe not but it's good to know they're really not needed.
