yes
i bough a new gibson les paul about a month ago. took it to the shop to get it setup and a new set of tuners. got it back, there was terrible fret buzz. brought it back. got it from the shop a second time, and there was still fret buzz buit i didnt feel like not having my guitar again so i said fuck it.

this guitar goes out of tune fucking constantly. its unbelievable. i cant go for more than a minute without noticing wrong notes in the chords. what the hell is wrong with it? anything i can do without bringing it back to another shop?

Is it all frets? Just one?
Did you take it to the same place both times?

Don't really know what to say except....

You're subject made me want to look at the thread. Then I got here and was let down in a big way. :D

I did think of something to say...

How did the guitar play when you bought it? Did you not take it to a trusted tech. to perform the work on a BRAND NEW guitar?

Just checking. :D

Answer these questions (oh and fucking fuck fuck):

- Gibson Les Paul, or Ephiphone Les Paul?

- How much did you spend on the guitar & where?

- What was wrong with the playability of the guitar originally?

- Why the hell would you take the guitar from the "techs" if it buzzed when they were done? Shouldn't you maybe mention to them what your problem is? This whole thing smacks of 16-year-old who isn't mentioning the whole story...

aye it sounds terribly unusual for a lester paulerator

Yeah, especially with the added stupidity of changing out the original Gibson tuners, if indeed it were a real Gibson Les Paul...

Are you letting the strings stretch a bit? Usually it takes a while for them to settle, in the meantime you have a guitar that goes out of tune quickly. And why the hell would you change the tuners on a brand new les paul?

thats why i used it as a title.

most frets buzz. i took it back to the same place because the setup sucked so he attempted to fix it. i took it to Berkeley repair center, and i wont be going there again.

when i first got it, it played pretty well. nothing to really complain about.

Since you ignored me last time for the most part...

Are you or were you a Fender-scale player?

I can't keep a LP in tune unless I go up a gauge with my strings. I'll push every string to the fretboard. It does wonders for my intonation :D

My only 24.75" scale is strung with 11s. YMMV.

Yeah, I gotta agree with that-weren't there Grovers on there? What did you think was better than original Gibson?

So you got it set up, why?

because i play Eb, and it was setup to E when i got it, naturally.

i already stated it was a GIBSON LP.

i spent 50 for a setup and tuner installation. i have the same tuners and another guitar, and dont have this problem. they are planetwaves auto trims. they are nice, at least on my other guitar.

one thing i noticed a few times is that the strings come out of the slot in the bridge. its happened a few times to me.

did it stay in tune before you took it to the shop?

i have a friend who bought a les paul years ago. an american LP custom. it wouldn't stay in tune from day one. he took it back the the store twice. the third time he got a full refund.

hmmm....you could always get your money back and buy two carvins. =]
(heh. yea, i know.)

it's actually pretty common. changing the tuners right away is also very common.

There could be an issue with the neck. I've seen it before. It may have played ok and without buzz at first because it was set up high in an attempt to hide a neck issue or it was set up high because when people are checking out a guitar in the store and hear frett buzz they automatically think the guitar sucks so manufacturers and the stores themselves set guitars up high to avoid that problem.

gibsons quality is very inconsistant and considering that it appears that you took it to a decent shop, It could be more than a set up issue.

Dude you gotta stretch your strings and you won't have these problems. Stretch them until they don't go out of tune no more. Make sure nothing is slipping at the nut.

Many people consider me a genius you should take my advice about staying in tune.

You don't really think the strings haven't been stretched, do you?
