im doing a project and i need to know what the speaker of an amp looks like and what the parts of it are called

What about my mesa....but may i ask why? just curious....because if your building one and dont know what the parts are....then dont do it... :D

just looking at the speeker without the grill is only gonna show you the cone...
I COULD grab a scrap speaker that I have lying around and post it.. but thats too much time and effort. if it's the parts of the speaker your looking for try a pic like this (off google)

parts and pictures

or a side cut view like this

Oh, and the flexible part between the cone and the frame is called the suspension.

Unfortunately, my amp won't agree to doing topless shots. Believe me, I've tried to sweet-talk it but it's trying to preserve its reputation in case it ever pursues a career in politics. That kind of thing can come back to haunt an amp.

Actually, I can't remove the grill from my amp or else I'd use my new digital camera to take a shot or two. I've wanted to remove it a few times while micing it up because I can't see thru the grill cloth to see exactly where the center of the cone is.

Hahaha, I see an opportunity for a t-shirt slogan: "Show us your cones!"

actually my Sunn 4x15 bass cab's grill falls off all the time hahahaha so if you want shots of that thing, i'll give em...only prob is its an OLD bass cab and there's no horns in it, just 4 straight up 15 inchers in a weird V-shape design..crazy old cabs..yeah if you want em ill try to get em

Wikipedia has an article under "loudspeaker" that is fairly decent.

Hell here's a pic of one of my 1/2 stack rigs... The 4x12 cab has an expanded metal grill over the speakers, but you can still see the speakers pretty well.......don't know if that's what you're looking for or not though...

:D I know what you're talking about with the grill falling off. Whose idea was it to use that goofy giant velcro stuff?

hahaha EXACTLY! i hate it...and when i WANT to take it off to show people the enormous inside of it, I CAN'T GET IT OFF hahaha stupid cab..sounds awesome though! although I can't find ANY information on it whatsoever :(

:eek: ----> :cool: ----> :confused: ....

That scares me being that close to the water ...

That's actually a slightly more confusing speaker than what you normally find in an amp, as it has a miniature speaker suspended over the larger cone.
