I'm pretty much ecstatic because I just scored myself a Shure BETA 58 for $40 today and a free Yamaha MT100 Cassette 4 track for another $5, I'm pretty much doing a dance on the inside. It sounds like beauty, so sensitive, and so sweet.:D

Is there really much of a difference, aside from price? Used I can get an SM57 from $40-$80, the beta's on the other hand are difficult to get for less than around $110.

If you guys couldn't use audio interfaces or PC's except for post-recording processing, what would you use to lay down your tracks?
