    Sonic Degradation in MP3 Conversion

As S2k stated avoid BladeEnc like the plague. Also, Scmpx does give good results. To decrease the detectable (by humans) quality difference between .wav and .mp3, encode at at least 192k-or even higher-depending on your encoder, and the dynamics of the audio which you are encoding. dmc

    Antares Mic Modeler

I saw someone post about this the other day and I've been waiting for a demo of it. I downloaded it last night and applied it to some acoustic guitar tracks that I had previously recorded with an sm57. This plug-in is awesome! I have no freakin clue as to whether or not the mic models...

Recording guitar amp with Cordless Mic-Isolationism

I recently saw an ad in an unnamed publication for a cordless mic adapter that you can attach to a (insert your favorite mic). I was wondering if any of you have any idea as to how well this would work for recording. Specifically, allowing one to isolate say...a guitar amp to be mic'd. Would...

    TEAC A-6010

I recently inherited a TEAC A-6010 in great condition. The heads were recently replaced so it should be in good working order. I know diddley squat about how to use this in my recording-I've only done PC-based 'til now. Anyone have any suggestions on how to best incorporate this into my...

Drum Samples, XXX, Hardcore, Free, Free

Here are the URL's to the drum samples I referred to yesterday in another post. I'll probably leave this up on juston for a week or two. They are contained in 5 seperate zip files, titled according to their respective content. These are the best I've found and each file has quite a variety...

    kind inspiration

This here funky nugget is something I've been working on this weekend. I've gotta tell ya, funk bass is some hard stuff to mix. Not to mention play. I'd like your comments on how it sounds. It started out muddy as all hell, but after mixing and re-mixing, I think I achieved some resemblance...

    backward masking

Is it just me or does anyone else notice all of the sublime details that recording reveals in your own music? Before I began recording and really listening to what was being played I can't say I really appreciated what I heard. Now, I listen to something I've recorded and I always find myself...

Is the POD supposed to do this?

I believe I have done this same thing before; by setting high values for the delay level and feedback it can regenerate indefinitely. dmc

"some of the VEGAS pro utilities"

Damon: What drstawl said is correct. If I am using volume or panning envelopes to control these parameters in the track, there is no need to change the default slider settings. If I don't make use of the envelopes during the track, I use the sliders for control. dmc
