EMG HZ Pickups for bass. Any info?

I've got EMG HZ's in a Spector Bass that are definitely passive but are passed through an active preamp before the output jack. They sound pretty good, but I have heard more natural-sounding pickups. dmc

    Cliff Burton, bass master!!

Steve: Not only can you alledgedly play the bass and sing, but you're pretty damn good at blowing your own horn. dmc

    Sonic Degradation in MP3 Conversion

As S2k stated avoid BladeEnc like the plague. Also, Scmpx does give good results. To decrease the detectable (by humans) quality difference between .wav and .mp3, encode at at least 192k-or even higher-depending on your encoder, and the dynamics of the audio which you are encoding. dmc

    Antares Mic Modeler

I saw someone post about this the other day and I've been waiting for a demo of it. I downloaded it last night and applied it to some acoustic guitar tracks that I had previously recorded with an sm57. This plug-in is awesome! I have no freakin clue as to whether or not the mic models...

    POD sale...

Foo: I have a Boogie and a POD...you're right and S2K is right. No it doesn't sound exactly like a boogie, but you can get some great sounds out of it. My Boogie is in my closet right now 'cuz I had to move into an apt. for a while. The POD serves up good convenient tone, at low volumes...

Recording guitar amp with Cordless Mic-Isolationism

Not easier, but definitely cheaper :) I am just tired of getting cables wrapped around my ankle and nearly taking the whole enchilada down with me...but then maybe I'm retarded. You're right though; I guess frequency modulation would unleash an entire new world of interference to wreak havoc...

    Software Drum machine

Go to http://www.fruityloops.com and download the demo-it gives you four tracks using some not-so-good samples, but it will work as a click track. Better samples can be had by searching the web. dmc

Please help! Guitar / computer recording question.

You can...but you'd get a much better recorded sound by mic'ing it.

Electric Lettuce and the Birth of Seth

I appreciate all of your input. The bass is an Ibanez SR1200; I picked it up used in a music store. It's got a neck thru body design with a maple neck and body. It also has active emg's. It is probably the punchiest sounding bass I've ever played-even unplugged. I am glad Ibanez discontinued...

Recording guitar amp with Cordless Mic-Isolationism

I recently saw an ad in an unnamed publication for a cordless mic adapter that you can attach to a (insert your favorite mic). I was wondering if any of you have any idea as to how well this would work for recording. Specifically, allowing one to isolate say...a guitar amp to be mic'd. Would...

Electric Lettuce and the Birth of Seth

Ric: Thanks for listening. I have to admit I've never heard of Robert Fripp, so I looked into him-pretty interesting guy. I appreciate the comparison. doc: Appreciate your evaluation as well. If I am interpreting your meaning correctly, the "deadness" of this one comes from the fact that...

    The sound of success

How you can get that much going on without it sounding TOO busy is a mystery to me. Very strong composition; if I didn't already know how much you incorporate MIDI into your work, I'd swear I heard one of those Burger King Pickle-o's in there somewhere. How're the chickens? :) dmc
