I hope this in the right spot. If not, I'm sure someone will correct me. I'm looking at getting a couple of Zoom R16's because it looks like the least expensive way to get 16 track concurrent recording, and I like the features combining stand alone with DAW. When the two are connected, do you end up with 16 track concurrent, 32 track overall, or is there some limitation once connected that reduces the overall track count?

The manual is not crystal clear on this.

Thanks in advance.

I think that's because any limitation on the total number of tracks out would depend on the software in the computer. If you are dumping the tracks into a software program that can handle 16 tracks, you should be good to go.-Richie-

I was really wondering if I could move the recorded tracks and record 16 more for a total of 32 without the use of the computer. With a single R16, you can record 8 at the same time, then record 8 more. I'm just not sure if you have the same capability using two R16's connected to each other.

Anyone know for sure?

I'm not sure on that. Why don't you email Zoom support and ask them? I'd be interested to hear their answer.-Richie

I'm really impressed with the Zoom but in answer to your question. I remember reading some professional reviews on this unit and linking two units was a bit tricky.
Maybe Google "Zoom R16, Reviews" and see what comes up.
