Zoom 505 into SBLive sounds bad

I've hooked my Zoom 505 straight into my SBLive, but all of the sounds are really fat and muddy, with no sharpness to the sound at all. Is this simply a case of EQing the sound, or is it a problem with using this combination of hardware.
