Hi. I just purchased a zero dac from china with the intention of doing the frakenzero dac modification.

Unfortunatly a friend has offered me his edirol ua-25 dac for £50 as he is upgrading.

Which dac do you think i should go with.

I can't google up any information on the edirol, probably because it is an old model.

Does anyone know how the edirol may match up against the zero, which one is it better to mod.

Thank you. John.

I have absoloutly no idea what you are talking about.

edirol

Does anyone know of the edirol ua-25 digital to analogue convertor, is it a budget model or audiophile quality, performance?

Thank you. John.

What is your intended use?

From what I can glean, the Zero is effectively a piece of hifi gear, converting digital signals to analogue to put into your amp and speaker system.

The Edirol is a recording device, designed to input two microphones (or two other sources) into a computer and take the computer output back to control room monitor speakers.

As such, the Edirol is probably not what you'd describe as "audiophile" but it's a more specialist/professional device.

(At the risk of being contentious, most sound professionals spell it "audiophool" when looking at folks who spend a thousand dollars on a mains lead or a piece of copper wire to connect your amp to your speakers. The music you want to listen to was recorded using standard copper wire bought in hundred metre rolls and soldered to connectors on site!)

+1 to what are you using it for.

Zerodac appears to be a standalone digital input headphone amp.

The edirol is a two channel audio interface with mics pres etc.
