Hey guys I was just wondering... whats your Top 10 List of Producers out there and their Best Works ?

Peace

Kind of obscure and probably not really well known, but I would choose Rupert Hine.

He did work with Tina Turner, The Fixx, Saga, Rush, and Duncan Sheik.

I think he does a good job getting some emotion in the mix. He is quite inventive.

Sam Phillips...looked like a cheap bastard in many ways, because he had to balance limited distribution channels, so prioritizing left some good folks in the dust,
but if he hadn't heard what he heard with Presley, Cash, Perkins, Orbison, and Lewis, we'd all be poorer.

Rick Rubin...for understanding where Johnny Cash wanted to go at the end of his life, and for bringing us some magnificent recordings that showcased The Man in Black in a way that bookended, so perfectly, his long career.

Daniel Lanois...his production of 'Teatro' with Willie Nelson is a gothic masterpiece, an album that cuts to the core of the man's songs, done in Teatro, Lanois's dusky theatre studio in the desert.

...more to come, I'm sure...

Best,

CC

difficult ..but one things for sure George Martin will be in that list!!!

Mutt Lange]
Charley Ainley
Don Was
Steve Albini
Brian Eno
Daniel Lanois
Rick Rubin
Dr. Dre
Glenn Ballard
Prince

in no particular order and if i answer again tomorro the list would probably change

Brian Eno- for his work with U2 this past decade
Nigel Godrich - for his work with Radiohead on OK Computer
Roy T. Baker - Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, Cars' debut album
Matrix - sure, Avril sucks but damn, they can put out a slick pop single.

Definitely Mark Linkous.

He's an amazing, extremely innovative producer.
Not to mention the brainchild behind Sparklehorse...(One of my favourite bands)

He's produced Nina Perrson's (Cardigans) solo album, A Camp. He also produced Denali's first album and I believe he had a hand in Cracker's production, if anyone remembers them.

Check Mark Linkous and Sparklehorse out, if you like hearing pretty different, honest ways of production!

Butch Vig - perfected that really punchy and clear grunge sound (Nirvana's Nevermind, Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese dream, Sonic Youth's Dirty). Also wrote some great songs with his band Garbage.
