in december i'm going to buy me a new power amp,
i know someone who sells his CROWN Ce-2000 for a nice price,
but i haven't heard it yet, all i know is that crown is a decent brand,
and this model is kinda what i'm looking for, something that gives about
400 watt rms @ 4 ohm

so what is your opinion about this piece of gear?

thanks in advance

I owned a CE1000 for years and had 0 problems. When it got to hot, the protection kicked in flawlessly and we could (and did) run that thing 12 hrs at a time. Crown are good ppl and their warrenty is hard to beat(3 years, pretty much no questions asked). I see that they must have been bought out but when I got mine around 2000 the manual had ALOT of religious scripture to spice up the normally bland operations (apparentley quite a spiritual company) :D

What do you plan on using it for? Personally, I am not a big fan of the Crowns except for the Itech and Macrotech lines. However, my applications are probably a bit different than yours. My experience with the CE's is that they sound OK but run out of headroom and head off to protect mode VERY easily.

I just bought a CE2000, new, last week. :) I've been powering four Yamaha SM15V Club series wedge monitors (THEY RULE!!!) all weekend with it. I switched out a QSC RMX 2450 for it. The Crown has less power, but has distinctly clearer mid/highs. Sounds great! It has these little caps that you can replace the channel knobs with, so no one can jack with 'em. It also has a proportional speed fan (on/off/on/off) which is kind of annoying to hear between songs. I'll get used to that. I have not yet run the Crown in bride/mono mode. I'll do that tommorow mornig, early! It was a bit pricey, but seems to be a good investment. It looks Rad. Like the grill on a Semi-truck. Don't forget your neutriks! :D
