damn..im jelous of some of the guys here with stacks....wishn i had one :(

my main setup is just my '89 usa strat or '96 custom fatstrat into my 535q wah, boss superchorus, boss dd3 delay, into my crappy lil marshall valvestate amp with my digitech whammy through the FX loop

my bass is usually one of my 3 basses (87 L2000, '75 Jazz Reissue, Schecter Model-T) into my DOD envelope filter then into my gallien krueger head runnin through my sunn 4x15 cab

a stack will break your back, gave up on them long ago, down to forty watts now and looking to go smaller. Traded in my V4 stack for the VT22 back in the ole days and that was to much. But, I guess if your young and can take it, more power to ya.
I got a slant 4x12 now that I can't even get a hundred bucks for?
 
My Epi Basher into my digi rp-100 on a rectifier setting in my tube crate amp, with Crybaby wah for soloing.

Works well for my kind of metal.
 
My Jackson, into a Vox amp, and mic'd with a 609 on one speaker, and a 58 on the other.....

So last night, my new Line 6 Spider 3 head started making a zinging noise when I muted chords, and then it did it when I played any notes at all, then it shut off out of nowhere and and let out the smell of melting wires. I knew this thing was too good to be true. Piece of shit fucking foreign made chunk of plastic shit. I'll be getting a new one tomorrow, and it better stay alive, because I love the sound of it (except when it dies). :D
 
Pretty simple here. ESP Mirage Custom, into an old Ibanez TS-10 Tube Screamer, into a Peavey JSX head, into 2 ADA split stack 2x12 cabinets, each with a custom Celestion 50 watt speaker, and a Celestion 75 watt speaker. Gives me all kinds of great crunchy rock and metal tones. I also have a TC Electronic G Major, but I haven't incorporated it into the signal path yet, since I haven't had time to play around with it yet.

my favorite sounding setup is very simple.

gibson double cut les paul faded w/ P-90's --> B-52 AT-100 --> Mesa standard 4x12 cab
 
My favourite, today, is:
Strat (custom built not fender) ... warmoth neck with kinman pups.

analogman fuzzface/or big muff pi depends on the day.
tube tape echo

hiwatt amp

or in hot weather a cheap classical guitar that i have
 
My unpatented fang modified heavy pick strumming a
Bruno Royal Artist semi acoustic guitar with bridge pickup selected (PU has had a mod on the pole nearest the bottom E which gives a nice bassy definition to it for bass runs - was like that when I bought it 2nd hand - I think it was used by an self accompanied country singer who wanted to fill out the sound)
INTO
Ibanez Renometer with Hi Boost selected ($2 at garage sale recently eBaying for $200)
INTO
Marshall Superbass MkII not too loud (no pre or gain control on this amp)
INTO
a 200W ETONE single cone box
This creates a strong tone, (very MIJ 60's), that whilst giving the clarity to bass runs between or in chords, also accentuates the odd harmonics of the guitar (listen to Rev. Blues at my link) giving it a unique, if unpopular, sound that I LOVE.
This combo cuts through recordings very well & a band extremely well.
 
(It's not necessarily my favorite ever, but so far it's the best I've owned!):

Schecter C-1 into Mesa Triple Rec into 4x12 std. slant rectifier cab.

Pedal-wise, I've got a Boss noise suppressor and a DD-3, but the dd-3's been giving me sh*t and I've gotta replace it :(

It's got a fair amount of different sounds, but you've gotta wrestle with it to get just the right tone. Oh it's there, and when you get it you've got it! But it seems inconsistent from night to night, which isn't exactly desirable.

I love my other guitarist's Framus Dragon though!

I use a boss ce-2 but I got the keely hifi mod done. It is my most favorite guitar effect on the planet (that may not be say'n much).

My current guitar singal path:

Gibson SG-1 or Gibson Gary Moore Sig. LP
Hand made myself a Ross Comp Clone
Love pedal Magic Boy (vibe)
Boss PHR1 Phaser
Boss CE-2 Chorus w Keely mod
Boss DD5 Digital Delay
Hand made true byapass box to bypass all effects with a tuner bypass too.
Boss pedal tuner (cant' remember model)
Mesa DC-5 Head
Made my own 2x12 cab loaded with Jensen Mod 12" 50watt 8 ohm speakers
 
I've been considering having the Keeley mod done to that pedal. It sounds as if you think it was worth it. Care to elaborate?

favorite setup varies with the application, of course, and changes over time -- most of my live gigs were:

Ibanez RG550 with EMGs ->
Ibanez tube screamer (TS-10) ->
Marshall JCM-800 2204 50 watt half stack

Today, getting acquainted with the demanding bedroom recording circuit, I guess there are several categories:

modeling setup:
2002 Gibson SG Supreme ->
VOX Tonelab SE ->
the Marshall above, using the "low sensitivity" channel, which I previously thought was useless

quiet practice:
2002 Gibson SG Supreme ->
Fulltone Fulldrive 2 ->
Sivertone 1470 (small tube amp with a radio's tube complement and an 8" speaker)

loud practice:
2002 Gibson SG Supreme ->
Fulltone Fulldrive 2 ->
Gibson GA-5 Skylark Crestline / sometimes the Marshall with Power Brake (straight in)

country/surf:
Charvel Surfcaster / Supro lap steel ->
Magatone varsity / Skylark / or a couple other small-ish amps I've got

but always:

1972 Martin D-28 -> air (uncle bought it new - I learned how to play on it)
 
When I gigged in the "old" days, nuthin' beat my Spector NS2 through an Acoustic 370 w/2 301 cabs, via a Rocktron 311 comp/expander and a DoD Bass Chorus pedal...Simple, sweet and oh so much punch...a chest thumper for sure...

Occasionally I throw in this stomp box I made when I was like 15. Some kind of fucked up ring modulator that on the least extreme setting, gives a fast tremelo effect, and on the most extreme setting, alters the hell out of all the harmonics, so that as you move up the neck, it's a toss up as to whether the pitch goes up or down. It's all over the place. Great for making strange noises, but thats about it.

As far as influences go, I think a cackhanded Jimi Hendrix been gangraped by a very very very drunk Marty Friedman and Dave Mustaine while Dimebag defecates on them all from above, pretty much sums up my playing.

Well there was another reason I had it done. The mod also includes the correction for modern 9 volt regulated power supplies (wall wart if you will).
Some of the earlier boss pedals were made to use the ACA unregulated power supply.

That was the first reason to do the mod. So I did not test drive the stock pedal but for an hour. Maybe I can post a sample to hear it.


(warning this may suck / this was done a while back)

I have the tawain green label ce-2. It's supposed to be the least favorite. All I know is I would not ever part with it.
