this product actually has nothing to do with mixing. it's just another effects plug in, for complete noobs. wow. And that guy looks like hes molested somebody.

These companies are taking the fun out of the recording process. I get enjoyment by experimenting with sounds and using tools to get the sound that I want. It can take days or even months to get a sound I'm happy with.

These plug in's make it so instantly gratifying that there's no effort involved in getting a really good sound or something that, with some effort, would sound 10 times better than the pre set they give you.

You wanna feel better? Take a pill

It's the culture.
And then ya gotta take a pill to get over the side effects of the first pill, etc.

It reminds me of another George Carlin quote: "Can you go to the acupuncturist if your complaint is that you have thousands of tiny needle holes all over your body?"

Interesting. Not something I would ever buy or recommend to anyone. It fits with the obsession of our culture to be famous over being creative. i.e. Here's an easy way to sound like a professional with presets. I don't see it as any different than presets that come in our DAW's. For me, they aren't very helpful.

I would be really curious if people find this more disturbing than using EZ drummer?

Fake drum loops seem pretty commonplace around here.

This is definitely more disturbing than ez drummer. I've actually had to use ezdfh before (for preliminaries) because, I was in between kits and it really is not a proper substitute for the real thing so, I can't imagine ez mix will suffice for the real deal.

this is definatly ridiculas, im no professional or anything but this ruins mixing music, as was mentioned above, acheiving your own sound through hard work will end up sounding better plus the actual sense of acheivement you get from it, even for beginers i dont think this would suit because there would be no trail and error, and the learning curve we all go through becaise of errors,

dont like the idea,

i also didnt know that so many people disliked the EZdrummer and dkfh, i thought it would be a handy tool for people who write music and record at home with no skill or room for a real kit, i mean obviously a real kit is preferrable but is EZdrummer really that bad of a choice if a real kit isnt an option?

EZ dummer and ez drumkit from hell plug-in isn't absolute crap but, it's just as gratifying as using a real kit. Maybe some other people don't mind it? I actually started out some years ago using ezd/ezdfh and while the samples are decent for a program, I personally felt that I needed to just buy a real kit and learn how to drum, which is what I did. After that I had to sell my kit and, going back to ezd just wasn't an option so, I eventually bought a new kit lol.

Nothing Garage Band doesn't already do.

There are some major logistical challenges involved in recording a live drum kit. The volume of the kit (and your neighbor's volume sensitivity), the number of mics required and channels needed, storing the 'kit when not in use, and this is all before we get into room treatment and the like.

This is just being lazy.

pros should look out

Current thread on this at the Reaper forum, generally positive, including input from a Toontracks staffer. The + argument is that it's beneficial for musicians who want to do quick n dirty mixes, and for those who don't have mixing skills and don't want to learn mixing.

whats the big deal? its just another effects plug in with presets...if it helps folks get a better mix great...

and whilst EZ drummer is pretty basic you can create something decent out of it with a bit of effort...now if you take Super drummer from toontrack your kidding yourself if you think thats not a useable product...90% of the folks here wouldnt be able to spot it in a professionally mixed track...and that % would be even higher in the general public I bet

Im going to buy two just in case I lose one...I just wish they did EZwife and EZfindyourwayhomeafterdrunknightout...boy I could use them :)

Yes and yes :D Or take another pill that will make you think the holes aren't there :D

Kinda like our congress :D

This type of automated approach will eventually allow the mass merchandising of audio production tools going way beyond EZmix, or Har Bal EQ, or the iPhone VoiceBand app. Simple versions will come standard on every new computer. Every phone will come with them. Toys R Us will have a whole "Pro Audio" aisle of niche products... LA Studio Barbie with her own software line and assorted merchandise aimed at tweens. Nashville Ken, Metal God Ken. Video game rock band tie-ins galore. I'm gonna invest in this.

The average age of HR members will soon be 12.

It's been nice knowin' ya.

that's the first thing i thought when i read this thread today. what's the BFD? i dont look at mixing as a challenge that is gratifying and rewarding. it's a necessary evil. and a pain in my ass. prolly won't try this software out until i can get it for free(by legal means, of course), but i might give it a whirl when i do get my hands on it. in no way could it make my recordings sound any worse.

damn. i didn't think of that. i sure hope the board don't end up with 104,250 idiotic noobs asking the same stupid questions 293,000 times. because that would really suck. :laughings:
