pM,
I don't think AmandaTwo meant anything other than an example of warning, but I'll let her speak for herself.
Everyone needs to know how to avoid the landmines, and this industry has a lot of them.
All emplaced on abject stupidity! I know, in my day "I" was one of the main offenders
If the crack pot delusions didn't work for the Clap'N'Clatters down the street, and a little research shows they didn't work for anybody else in town,
forever - how much brains would it take to figure out that something is wrong with that picture? A bit more
serious research, WITHOUT the same stupidities intact, would show any prudent mind those DELUSIONS never-did-work for anybody,
ever!
Once you're over THAT hurdle, it becomes incumbent to find out
what-does-work and how to do it. Rest assured, when you learn the true HOW, every idiot who never-did-it themselves will bust a gut the moment you mention any part of it. They could learn from your experience and succeed too, but that would mean having to admit they've been damned fools from day one! And the Idiot Element absolutely cannot do that ...
There's a Gold Record out there in every Field of Music. All you have to do to get it is be willing to
take the business risk and know what the hell you're doing in the process. Some people don't want to work that hard and I don't blame them. For those that do, they simply need to rid themselves of all the deliberately perpetuated Beer Joint Baritone delusions, put their business house in order, and learn to play this game by it's real rules. Anyone who follows those simple instructions and
adapts themselves TO the market, rather than expecting the market to adapt to them, has a better than even chance of getting one (or more) of those coveted Gold Records. Time, investment and work. The same formula for every other business.
