I don't remember saying Yamaha was lying about anything.
I presented the stats right from the manual -- you have presented nothing.

I have presented stats. I have checked with Yamaha, and they present the same stats to me. You have claimed that these stats are incorrect. You refuse to say which stats are incorrect and in which way.

The Green Hornet said:
It is evident in your words that you are not discussing the units. You are discussing the Green Hornet.

Yes, that is correct. You are claiming that my (that is Yamahas) fact are incorrect, and you refuse to say which facts are incorrect. I have since asked why you are doiung this. Which fact are incorrect, and why are you attacking me? What is it I have said that you don't like?

I get no answer, just further abuse:

" presented the stats right from the manual -- you have presented nothing."
"You present nothing but anger"
"You don't know brother"
"I just think you want to blow your horn."
"where are you coming from? Yeah, I know, the land of yodeling"

As you say, it's all in the specs. I did nothing but present specs. So, for the sixth time: What in the specs that I/Cratinus/Yamaha have presented is wrong? Can you tell me that?

Yo Regebro or Orbeger:

You haven't presented any facts or quotations from any manual or any on line source.

I have, directly from the 2816 manual.

Do you have a manual for either models? Why do you keep saying you are presenting facts when all you are doing is making yourself look stupid.

Go and buy both units and then put on some specifics. And, while your at it, buy a book of English grammar.

You win. You're the anomaly!

Green Hornet

Since you know better than me what I have said, then please tell me: What have I said? Why are you angry?

You say I haven't quoted any facts. OK; so what did I say? For the seventh time: What is it I have said that is incorrect? How come you refuse to say what my mistake is, but continue to accuse and abuse me?

Nay, Nay, Nay Regebro:

This thread started as a comparison between two units. You were the one who abused my information without any credibility or authenticity or documentation.

I'm not angry at you as a person since I only know a name, not a person.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. You have yours. I have mine. But, opinion does not really indicate knowledge -- you, as well as me.

So, if you think the AG16 is at a certain level, that's fine. Our disagreement involves a measley 1k worth of quality.

Will post you if and when I hear from Yamaha. But since we both agree there is more quality in the 2816, the thread is dead.

Enjoy,

Green Hornet

Oh? What information did I abuse and how?

The Green Hornet said:

And what opinion is that?

For the *eigth* time:
What is it I have written that is incorrect?

If you cannot answer me why you are attacking and abusing me, maybe you should give me an excuse for your behaviour?

[WHAT IS AN EIGTH?} GH

Regebro: I think you need to see a shrink.

Climb the Matterhorn?

No more time for your juvenile logic.

No mas tiempo por un hombre con loco in cabezza.
Adios,

Hey Regebro:

What is EIGTH? [AS PER YOUR POST.]

By the way, keep saving for your 2816 as you posted in the Analog section.

Heh, heh, this proves you are a junger who is just full of hot air.

Good luck when you get your 2816.

Green Hornet

As usual, all you have to offer is abuse. Still no answers.

(And btw, eigth is a misspelling for eighth.)

AW16G: good value for the money
AW2816: good value for the money
AW16G: great choice on a budget
AW2816: great choice if you have a slightly larger budget
AW16G: for the price,...who cares if there's no automation and no 24-bit recording
AW2816: for the price,..what a great deal for mixing automation and 24-bit recording

is there a price difference?......YES.

does Toyota make a Camry AND a Corolla?.....YES.
(is the Camry a better car?.....YES. will both get you from here to there?...YES. will one get you there more "comfortably"?.....YES. does this make the Corolla an inferior vehicle for transportation?......NO.)

one IS a nicer car/recorder than the other...the specs do not lie.

is "the other" INFERIOR??? NOT NECESSARILY.
does it offer (as a whole) LESS features??....YES.
will YOU MISS those features?????.........maybe,..maybe not. YOU DECIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i vote that this topic/post be ended as soon as possible and we all get back to recording and bouncing tracks and overdubbing drum parts and punching-in guitar overdubs and
re-doing vocal intros and re-mixing submixes and all that whatnot. cheers.

p.s. sorry for the "Toyota comparisons". i've been forced into some car shopping for the last week or so and my brain is absolutely FRIED.

Yo Cratinus:

You are so RIGHT. Get back to recording. My evaluation of Regebro is that he/she is very young and kind of on a crusade for something. Whatever "something" is, I don't know; I don't really care.

If you check the the Analog post section, Regebro states he/she is "saving" to buy a 2816. I about busted a gut when I read that after all of the confusing jargon he/she has tossed about here with NO documentation at all.

That phrase of "saving to buy" indicates youth. God Bless youth; we need them.

Thanks for your expertise and it is clear and succinct and sensible.

I still haven't seen any specs on the CDR unit in the less expensive unit by Yam; but, I do know that DOLBY makes chips for noise reduction; they make MANY chips; the better the chip, the better the sound quality of noise reduction. Not many folks know that Dolby makes between ten and twenty different chips. So, it seems logical that a unit that costs about 1k less than another unit, would have identical programs and programs of exact same quality inserted by Yamaha; remember, Yamaha wants to make money.

See you somewhere on this site and enjoy, Cratinus.

By the way, Kato went to ski in Sweden.

I have a younger brother. When he was small he sometimes got very angry either for no apparent reason, or for some reason that was impossible to do something about, like wanting ice cream after all the stores were closed. Being a young teenager I tried reasoning with him, like telling him that since all the stores were closed, he couldn't get any ice cream, but that we could get some tomorrow.

Of course, this didn't help at all. He still screamed "you are stupid" at me and tried to kick me. I got very frustrated with this lack of communication.

Then my mom tought me something:
Young kids and immature people when they get very upset, they quickly forget *why* the get upset. They just know that they are upset, and it becomes a self-sustaining motion of "upsettedness". :) They know thay are upset, and that makes them upset. But they have completely lost track of what made them upset in the first place, and just take it out on anybody that happens to be close to them at the moment.

I think that is what has happened here. Green Hornet has absolutely no idea why he is upset. He just knows that he is, and he takes it out on something that happens to be at hand. In this case it is me.

This is why he can't answer any questions on what has made him upset. This is why he can't tell me what I have written that is wrong or incorrect. He is just severely pissed off, and he has absolutely no idea why.

I don't know what to do about this, but I will from now on try to keep away, because reasoning is obviously pointless, as is asking questions, and getting any kind of coherency out of him. All he can seem to write is is "You are stupid" over and over again, together with some incoherent ramblings and accusations.

You are of course exactly correct, and that is why I said the same thing already in my fourth post. :)

You see, this "debate" has never been about the machines, as far as I can tell. OK, Green Hornet have accused me for coming with incorrect facts, but he never answered what facts. He then talked about my opinions, but he never told me what opinions he was talking about, and so on. So we have never actually argued over the machines, as far as I can tell. :)

What has happened is that he for no apparent reason started being abusive towards me, and I have tried to figure out why. You see, I don't like it when people are angry at me, so I try to find a resolve. I try to figure out what the misunderstanding is, to I can correct it, but to no avail, this time. Instead he is now starting to abuse and harass me in other posts I do as well, which of course wasn't really what I had hoped would happen. :(

Like my mom says... SHUT UP!

The links are here....

http://www.aw4416.com/e/news/aw16g.html AND
http://www.aw2816.com/e/ Respecfully. I think everyone got a little side tracked here. I think I posted on this subject a few weeks ago when it was first announced that it was coming out.

The G version is a cutback version to allow faster tracking to capture music quickly. I think its because of all the emails and posts from Green Hornet on the complexity of reading the manual they decided to make a green hornet friendly machine;) Anyone with experience with the 4416 and 2816 will tell you its a little cumbersome at first and really isnt a good product for entry level folks. I like the idea of the quick access buttons for the eq's verses scrolling thru endless screens. I think when they finally get knobs for all the functions individually they will crush the competition. As far as DSP, its idendentical to the 4416 and 2816, all they did was add a 24 bit lockout on the A/D,D/A converters. Remember the 4416 and 2816 are both 24bit and 16bit converter machines right. Its a bridge between the stranded md8 folks and the 2816/4416 users like I said in a previous post, which is a good thing, but they screwed up by not having digital i/o's for the pc integration.

Yo Son of Mixed Music:

You are right. Yamaha finally got tired of my constant nagging at their manual writers. I can do that though, I have three degrees and my main focus is English composition taught at the college level. So, you'd have to admit, the manuals have very little coherent organization, and that might be an oxymoron.

I like the idea that Yamaha has made a Green Hornet user Friendly box. I can see the logo on the box now -- a Green Hornet hovering over a bowl of Sushi.

I tire of Regebro's bucolic anecdotes and analogies. Analogies are nice but they DO NOT PROVE ANYTHING. Analogies are merely extended metaphors or similes.

Thanks for your input MixerMan.

:p :p :p

I have owned an AW4416 for a little over a year now. It is a truly awesome machine. I stepped up from a TASCAM 424 to this unit, and there is no doubt a learning curve. But that learning curve is time well spent. When I travel through MARS and look at some of the other units available.... they do not compare to the 4416.

Yamaha mailed me 3 operating system upgrades during the first year... and all worked just fine.

I can't imagine buying a 16 track unit without motorized faders. When you pull a song out of storage and load it back on to the unit... hit play and all of the faders mix the song throughout exactly like the last time you worked with it.... that is a huge time saving.

The effects boards are good. All of the final mix compression possiblities are real good. This unit will not be the weak link of very many home studios. And were it to be stolen... I would probably replace it tomorrow... without even evaluating what is available now.

WHEN Yamaha finally starts shipping the AW16G, and somebody finally buys and plays with it, then and only then, can anybody judge this box. Yes I'm an MD8 user just looking for more tracks and keeping it simple. See you you all in a month or so when this takes place.
Paul

Yes, I'll be among the first to evaluate the 16g, but has anyone heard when it will actually begin shipping?

I've heard nothing back from Yamaha.
