I'm very new to home recording. I've just purchased an old Yamaha 02R V2 Mixer, paid $500 for it, about the same as a mid size modern Analog Mixer. Despite not having a Sound Engineers background, I'm a retired Digital Electronics Engineer, I'm actually getting on quite well with the 02R.

However there are 2 things alluding me at present.

1) Above the faders are the normal input channel switches, on/off and sel, then above this is another dual row of switches plus rotary encoder knobs, labeled Tape 1-16. What are the for and how do you use them, please.

2) There are also switches in the Control Room block, labelled 2TR-D1 thru D3 and A1 & A2. There are also 2 x RCA plugs and 2 x 1/4 Jack plugs on the back labelled Analog 2TR input.

What are these and how do you use them, please.

Thank you Alan, unfortunately my mixer is the earlier 02R, much as I would love an 02R96, they are still way too rich for my taste. I've already got the User Manual and Service Manual for my 02R. But the User Manual is not that useful since it assumes you are a Sound Engineer, which I'm blatantly not. But I am a Digital Electronics Engineer, so the service manual as actually proved quite useful in my climb up the learning curve of Digital Mixers.

But thanks for trying.

Keith

Oh OK, should have been this manual?

I can't help with all the switching, but 2TR means 2 track, refering to the old tape recorder days, so it is for a 2 channel recording or playback device.

Alan.

Thanks for that Alan. I did find out about the Tape switches, when you flip to them, they switch the faders to the I/O Card inputs.
