on my new Alesis mixer, when I plug the Male XLR connection into the mixer I hear a click like it is locking into place, only problem is getting it out. There is no unlock button like on the female side of the XLR cable. Any trick to removing the plug, like twisting one way or the other? Thanks,Chuck

The lever must have broken off. Usually you have to take a small flat blade screwdriver and work it into the latch to release the connector.

That will work.

Are all of your XLR ins like that on every channel?

:laughings: Just tie a rope around the microphone cable and send that out the window to the bumper of your vehicle where you tie off that end get in your vehicle and gun it down the road ..... It should hopefully come out after a while. ;)

its a brand new mixer so maybe the connections just need to to wear down. Im sure after a while I will have to duct tape them to stay in. When I tie the cable to the bumper, should I put a few nails through the mixer so it wont move??

good idea, Guess i will put the nails I ripped off my rain gutters back lol...........but seriously I did get the cables out and used a small screwdriver to flex the locking springs, that seems to have helped, will just have to wear the newness off a little. Now I need to figure out how to get the mixer to work with my laptop and the interface I have (mobilePre) the mixer is also an interface,so im not sure if I need to use one or the other or if I can use both???

The XLRs may not lock. It wouldn't be that unusual.

You probably don't need the Mobile Pre with the mixer/interface.

my mistake I think was getting a bunch of new stuff all at the same time, so on top of learning each new piece of hardware, im attempting to figure out how they all fit or dont fit together. Good thing its called a learning curve,I always wanted to go around the world. Thanks for the help and the humor,Chuckwagon

Try a little electrolube (contact lube not cleaner) around the XLR socket where the catch is to see if it loosens it up a little. I have this problem with my studio multicore box, some brands of XLR's are a little tight some are fine, it's probably just the newness. When they get old the press part of the catch breaks off then they really get stuck.

Alan.
