can someone link me to a site where i can buy a X-Y mic clip. I cant seem to find one. You know the clip that has 2 mic holders to record X-Y. thanks

That holder may not be wide enough (and etc) to correctly mount two mics in an X/Y placement.... I think that holder is more for holding two mics on a podium.

Got me one of these yesterday.
Not sure if this version is available in the US.. (K&M 23550)

It's enough width for mics that have a straight shaft body and can be pulled back so the clips are up near the head. The tilt knuckle is also a very handy feature.

What DJL says may be true, depending on the mics in question. For pencil mis with dimensions such as MXL 603, Oktava MC012, Studio Projects C-4, Rode NT5, etc., it'll work just fine, from 90-120 degrees. If you want to put a pair of C414's with H100 shock mounts on it, you are going to have difficulties. For LD pairs with shocks, I would recommend the Sabrasom stereo bar, available at The Sound Room. It is more pricey, and for most X-Y coincedent applications, unnecessary.-Richie

And you could put the mics in the clips backwards which could help... however, for a correct X/Y mic placement one mic capsule should be placed over the top of other so you would need to use a spacer or whatever to make that holder work for X/Y placement. I think he would be better off getting a real stereo bar.

Does it matter if you cross them over by angling them above and below each other -or just set them face to face?
