gec... Keep it real with HR??? gimme a break... go smoke another BOWL dude.

We are a Nashville based Songwriting Forum... therefore, we have a lot of country music... go figure. Maybe they aren't responding to you, or critiquing your songs because they don't know where to start.

Al
PS> I'll try to check out your stuff tomorrow Henri.

Hi Al whats up bud, Check out the "Rhyming Hummmm" thread and the "Lets Try Something" thread..And there are others too like Blackbucks"Porposed Idea for Songwriters" ..put in your two cents..This is what I ment by "workshop" type of approch..

Don

Yeah tunesmith keep it real wit HR is thri a problem wit HR

Take your azz back to your own site, and YOUR THE ONE THAT SHOULD BE SMOKIN A BOWl, you uptight fuck

hey guys i just finally checked out this thread and after seeing all the commotion i was convinced to go check out this site. i do have to agree with gec though. all i seem to see is 95% country singers/writers. although it is nashville-based, i believe it would be in their better interest to broaden their scope a bit. there is more in the world of music besides country. not that there is anything wrong with country, mind you....

i planned on posting some lyrics there but after i noticed this "trend" i decided against it simply because, like Al said, they would not know where to start.

oh and by the way.... Al

what gives you the right to come in here advertising for your s****y site and bashing us for having personal opinions that may differ from yours.

i get the impression that you are a very narrow-minded individual and you seem like you are on a mission to prove your site is better, not to help any of us.

just stay at your site and we'll make our own decisions, thx.

Well, I checked out the site and noticed that there really is a lot of good stuff going on there. Granted, many of the folks who reviewed the lyrics and song I posted there were also HR'ers, but not all. If you read through other people's lyrics you'll find a lot of interesting and valuable songwriting techniques and advice.

Yes, it is more country and pop then you see here, but it seems a bit more"pro songwriter" oreinted then HR so that's understandable enough.

If you are interested in the input of a different group of people, don't let any "us and them" nuttiness get in your way. Its a good site.

Keeping it real wherever I happen to be, ;)
Chris

chris, i agree with you. despite my ranting i will admit that there is some good stuff happening there. and yes it does have a bit more professional feel than hr.

BUT***
I still don't like that guys high-steppin attitude.

Goldfish... Under your Name, Your Status says NEWBIE. You just got here yourself.

Al

just wanted to let everyone know i just finished a song and posted it at tunesmith.biz. i'll let you know how bad i get slammed.

oh and Al, check it out, it's dedicated to you. ;)

BTW... np gec.

I enjoyed the compliment... but the song was a little limp. :)

Al

Well I went and did it. After much nagging from fellow writers, and with some techno-hand holding I was able to Post an MP3
on Tunesmith. Title is Psalm 23. Check it out and flame-on. Done on an MD8 with the help of Dr 5.MIDI parts courtesy of Roland.
Conner was very helpful in guiding me thru my first upload. So far a great site

I dunno. Would love to decide for myself as Tunesmith has not given me much to go on other than childlike rants, but your link no workie...

Childlike Rants ?

Maybe you're just a newbie/weak writer, and you can't face the realities of the music business, and the poor quality of your songs. It's not MY fault if you're not ready to hear this stuff... it's YOURS. :)

Al

Whoa there, half-cocked! Ya might wanna check out Clark's post about childlike rants one more time. I do believe he was referring to THIS thread and not the site itself.

The astute observer would note that he hadn't yet gotten the link to work...

The same observer might also note that his point was well proven...

As far as the tunesmith offering real-world music business songwriting advice- yeah, there's a few pro-minded people there and their comments are pretty keen- usually in a good way. There are plenty of ametuer folks there, too, though.

Take (more) care,
Chris

Al, you seem a bit defensive.

I like what is going on over there and I may well try and participate, but i have to say: You opened this thread. You invited criticism of your site and by extension, yourself. And as soon as some is thrown your way, you resort to namecalling?? Is that how you critique songs too?

Whatever. Good luck.
