In the early 80’s I formed a melodic rock band called Off the Edge. Over the years we released five albums in total. We were busy recording our sixth album but due to various circumstances certain members relocated and the whole project ran out of steam.
I had also joined our Off the Edge’s singer’s professional band and we performed all over South Africa and neighbouring countries. This band lasted for roughly 21 years but unfortunately in May this year our singer Clint Cunningham passed away. It was quite sudden and it’s been a difficult time for all of us.
Recently I came across some demos that we’d thrown together back in the day when we were writing songs for the sixth Off the Edge album. The backing was extremely rough but Clint’s vocal takes were great (even though they were just guide takes)
I decided to use his vocals and get the old band together to create new backing and record these rough demos properly as a dedication to him (and try to finish the sixth album)
This is the first track that we’ve completed. I used photos taken from one of our shows in 2004 in the video.
I played all guitars, Mike Dorea played bass, Dave Sharp played Hammond C3, Glenn Welman played drums and Nikki Lee Dorea sang backing vocals.
