Hi all Fellow newbies,

I'm new to recording also. I created a reference site to keep up with informational links on recording. www.recording.s5.com
It is in no way a replacement for homerecording.com. It just allows you to educate yourself on recording and also be able to ask better questions. My goal is to find as much free informaiton on the Internet as possible that could benefit the group here.

If you have any links that you think could help the group let me know and I will add them.

I really started this site as a reference for myself but realized that it might help the group. So there it is.

Thanks.

WOOOW!!!

I love your site 'D, it's shaping up quite nicely. I'm thinking about deleting all of my other bookmarks and just keeping your site. ;)

I also loved the soundcard site, right now I'm in the process of buying the Aardvark Direct Pro 24/96 card, (from Tubedude) which I haven't been able to hear yet, do to the buying online thing. So you can imagine my excitement when I see it sitting right on top of the list with all "EXCELLENT" marks. Very cool!! :) :) :) :)

Thanx again for the killer site 'D.

Thanks

Yeah, I saw the Aardvark Direct Pro 24/96 card at the top of the list also. I need to add that site to the list it's a pretty cool site.

Later, D

I've bookmarked your site (already bookmarked the one Spin mentioned) - very nice!! Both are packed with info.

My lil' woman would like to have a talk with both of you now because I haven't left the PC in three days.... ;) Don't worry though - after the initial screaming - she'll get over it!! ;) :p

Thanks again.

Hey. Some of the links on my site and the studiocover site are the same. Yep, I stole them. I'm not trying to take credit for someone else's searching. I'm just trying to build a reference for myself and others to learn recording. That's it.

They seemed a little ticked that I copied some of their links, but
I'm not trying to make money I'm just trying to find as much free information on recording as possible.

Very well constructed site containing excellent recording tips!!!

Job well done, Home-Boy!!! 4-stars!!!
Peace

Stealing?? NOT!!

JerryD,

You didn't steal a thing...I would think they would be happy you linked to their site...it draws more people to it.

In any case BOTH sites ROCK!!

Thanks again...gotta go. Lil' Mrs. wants to take a walk.... :):D

This will probably alienate some but the discussion is relevant to musicians. Issues of copyright infringement and intellectual property rights will likely face anyone who pursues their music into the commercial and public eye.

This particular copyright issue is addressed in this article:
http://www.copyrightwebsite.com/digital/webIssues/webIssues.asp

I hope you will read on before rushing to any opinions regarding our stance.

JerryD, we're not ticked that you took "some" of our links. We are disappointed that you copied the entire content of our "articles" and "basics" pages - including: the table format, the organization, categories, font, size, color (our link settings override the navy blue) , the order, arrangement, notes, annotations, commentary and last but not least, the thought (and time and effort) that went into putting it together.

You copied and pasted this onto your site and then solicited traffic from "newbies" wanting free internet info. You made no mention of us in any of your postings or on your website. You have since stated that you will. But we request that you revise your site to remove our "content".

We'd be happy to exchange links with you. We even have content that we're not sure we want to maintain any longer that might be of interest to you. We have ideas for content that you may be interested in.

You may not be selling anything (although one could argue that we are "all" selling "something"), but we are and you have targeted the very market we are interested in with our own material.

You have a nice looking site, please consider taking our "content" off of your pages. We have it all here, we work on maintaining it, we have compiled it for the very people you wish to help. Our intentions are not so different.

The article linked to above will shed some light on the subject, at least it did for me. Pleae read it in companion with this post. I hope you will assess this message in the intended spirit. Thanks and Peace. Dan.

I'm a copyright dolt!!

OK OK...so I'm no copyright expert!! :o

I suggest you guys hook up and come to an agreement you can both live with. I really don't think JerryD intended to "steal". Maybe you can agree on what links you will and won't share then go from there.

I must say I enjoy and will visit BOTH sites to learn - which is why we are all here. I am no newbie but I am also no expert.

So whattya say fellas?? Break some bread, have a couple of cold ones on me and make peace.

peace. zip >>

ps...damn good thing I'm not a lawyer! :D

I changed my mind

So what belongs to you that is on my site?

The color Navy blue? I didn't know you owned blue? Is red available? I will make them all red.

The font Verdana?

The links to articles that you don't own and didn't write? The ones you have collected to sell your warez? Does prorec.com know what your up to? Actually what your doing sounds more illegal. Selling your warez and using other people's copyrighted material.

I have never seen where having links to other sites, the ones that don't belong to you, is copyright infringement. If this were the case the entire Internet would be in violation because the Internet is one big freaking link. Think about it.

So if it's not the links, the color Navy blue, or the font Verdana what is it on my site that belongs to you?

Who cares who it belongs to! It simply out there for informational purposes!
Don't worry about it JerryD. Keep up the good work!
Don't Change a d@mn thing!!

Must have playa' haters out there somewhere!

I'll start by saying I am not trying to pick sides here...I am just quoting the Copyright Website Man posted.

" A link is a URL, a fact not unlike a street address, and therefore not copyrightable "

" This means if you see a cool link list and you copy it wholesale to your website, it is probably a copyright violation. However, if you want to take several links from a list, this is probably not a copyright violation."

In the recording.5s.com site (recording tips) I printed out the lists and compared them to the studiocovers.com lists.

Although there were similarities in sections the lists were not copied wholesale and not identical.

According to the Copyright website....not really a copyright violation.

As I stated, I am NOT picking sides here....just quoting the facts available to me.

I still think you guys need to share a few cold ones.... :D

Good work by both of you...I'll still visit both sites. :)

peace.
