WTF should I do with THIS???

Well... ya see, this is how it happened:

I put this drum loop on, dialed in a weird guitar sound, and I figured I'd just play some geetar and chop it up to make into a bunch of weird loops to throw around or give away, or whatever...

So, I record this weird guitar, and then it almost sounds cool. So, I record some weird bass over top of it. Then, it is starting to sound way too much like the old spacy, weird jams I used to play w/ bands I was in...

Finally, I cut up the drums trying to give it a live feel. Now, I have this mess, and I don't know if I should just trash it or maybe turn it into something or leave it as is and call it the "Power Trio From Hell Soundcheck." I really like the weird beginning, but I think it definitely drags on after a little while. I could almost cut it off after that part (about 2:10) and leave it as is. I could also cut it off there and use it as an intro to a more organized song (if I write one... lol).

I stopped messing with the drums @ the 3:30 mark or so, figuring I wouldn't spend the time working on them until I decided what to do with it.

So... What do you think? Trash? CD? Throw some "empty arena" reverb on it and complete the soundcheck scenario? lol

I like it.

To me this is something that could be added to or altered, but then you could just leave it just the way it is as a statement of those couple of hours in your life. I guess if you were to make it more friendly to a broader audience you could change some things. I really like the odd guitar stuff. I suppose it could use something more solid, like a melody or even a funky vocal thing during the funk guitar stuff. Might be hard to imagine but I could hear it. Something to bring it together. More down to earth. Then again you go even more extreme and send it into orbit. Possibly shorten some of the sections to make it short and sweet and not take the chance of loosing someone. In a live situation you go on and on jamming to the funk rhythm, but possibly on a recording the parts should be shorter in length. I have similar things that usually get shelved, but I realize later that parts of it get incorporated into something else that may be more coherent.

Hell, I didn't actually look at the poll until after I poster. After seeing the poll and what I posted, I can see we have similar thoughts about the song. I guess I wasn't much help, since it appears I just repeated what you were already thinking. Sorry. Keep up the good work. If you do evolve it more, it would be cool to hear where you go with it.

Hey, I really liked it. At first I was wondering if I was getting an adverse psychedelic reaction from the five dozen poppyseed bagles I ate today (or maybe it was the moldy rye bread), but when the song started to take off, I was rockin' in my chair digging it. What it could use (and you're in the same boat as me with this one) is better drums. Your drums have mine beat by a longshot (so don't take my critisism on this particular matter too hard), but when the tune starts to take on an "organized" form, the "drummer" should be going completely f#ckin' banana-wacky... ..lots of rolls and roto-toms and cymbals and shit. At least that's what was going though my head at the time. If you do anything else with it, keep me posted. Tom.

That's REALLY weird. I actually poked my nose in here for the first time in about 2 months or so, and there's this ANCIENT post just floating around.

That's pretty strange....................as a sonic experiment it works on some level. I'm downloading this, next time I'm really loaded I'll check it out then so I can get the true effect.
The drums do sound good though.........and the wah-wah guitar too.
