If 500 is a cheap price for a 60's black face bandmaster in decent condition, your challenged was completed at Guitar Center of Manchester, CT. However, I've seen silver face combos that go for over twice as much.

It blows me away because I don't think Marshall amps sound all that good anymore. The guitarist in my old band had a JCM2000 and I thought it sounded like crap.

For the same money, there's lots of cool amps you could get that would sound better than a Marshall.

Utter rubbish...Nothing beats a Marshall.

1992? Gas was $1.09 on an expensive day. When is the last time you saw a value meal for $2.99? $5.50+ if you want something more than what used to be a kids meal.

OK, here's one for you.

Laney make much better England-made valve amps than Marshall, and they're better value for money too. My VC-15 cost peanuts and is one of the best little combos I've heard. Tell me I'm wrong, and why.

One of my favourite amps is the Marshall I've had since I started playing guitar.

The amp I prefer to use for the most part, however, is a peavey.

It's horses for courses. None of the Marshalls I have do high gain stuff aswell as my Peavey 6505. But I prefer one of my marshalls for the cleans and another for the dirties.

It's like saying that a jigsaw isn't as good as a spirit level. Different tools for different applications. You can't beat a marshall for certain applications, but some amps will kicks it's ass for others.

Why buy a new Marshall anyway? Anything made by Marshall after dropping tubes is subpar.
