I'm on the lookout for preamps, does anybody have anything they need to sell? First choice is a DMP3, but I like the Rane MS1B, and some others. You can see I'm not looking for high end, I don't have a lot of money I just want to cut out my Mackie board from my recording chain completely. Just message me with what you have please.

What Mackie board do you have? I'm not familiar with them, but I've heard some of them sport preamps that are as good any any lower end unit.

I have a spare Symetrix SX-202 I would be willing to sell for $150 (+$15 shipping if you are in the US). I will cover PayPal Fees.

You can have Jim Wililams at Audio Upgrades mod it later when you get more cash. His upgrade allows the mic pre to have more detail/image to the signal. They are a great unit stock too.

IM me if you are interested.

I'd stick with your Mackie front end until you can afford something better than the 2 units cited above. They may be different than your current setup but not much, if any better sounding. Step up to at least an RNP or something else in its class.

I have a 1 DMP3, 1 Rane MS1B, 2 Tube MP's (I use one for bass, not too bad actually), 1 Bellari RP 5, and a Mackie DFX-12. The Mackie isn't terrible, but it always has a mushy soft feel to it that I don't like on anything. I simply don't have the money to spend on a $400-500 preamp. At least not right now. I would much rather be using another Rane or DMP3 than stick with the mackie. I actually have an LA-610 in my house that I was using (not mine), but I think the tube went or something. It doesn't work right anymore, it sounds like when a cable goes bad and you get a weak crackly signal. But to be honest, I'm not "that" impressed with either the compressor or the mic pre on it. I prefer the DMP3 in a lot of cases.

I'm leaning towards the Symetrix at the moment. I could use two clean channels.
