Wrapping tape around an Sm-58(or similiar shaped mic?)

Hey. I'm trying to mark all my microphones with blue tape, but i've found my Sm and Beta 58s dont work so well because they're skinny at the bottom and fat at the top - so it comes out like a spiral. Has anyone come up with a way to get around this?

i know this is the most technical question ever. lol

Just put one circle of tape around it and don't worry about it being a very slight spiral?

Put your strip of tape from top to bottom instead of winding it around the mic.

Everyone uses the Blue tape man. Try some Aluminum tape with a red Duct Tape stripe or some other color combination. The color pallette of standard usage adhesive vinyl/ plastic products has expanded greatly in the past several years.
