Thoughts??

it's Roxoul safe n' sound 3" we have only built two.

I would like to make 8 panels of the 3"
will that be enough to absorb the bass?? or should i make 2 that are 6" ??
I need to figure out asap cause i am leaving for school soon and have to have them done by then, and i'm recording soon.

3" Roxul Safe 'n' Sound traps will be sufficient down to about 250Hz, or middle C, so you are going to have accentuated bass beneath that. The 3" panels will serve you better on the walls as broadband traps and 6" traps will work better stradding the wall to wall corners and the wall to ceiling corners. How many depends on the dimensions of your room or studio and more specifically what you decide based on the acoustic measurements.

humm. Yeah i figured that would be the case.

I'm limited on how many i can build right now because of travel reasons. but for the time being i'm going to build 4 - 3" and 2 - 6" then when i have a more permanent room i will use the 3" on the walls and build more 6" :[

as far as testing goes i don't have a mic to test with. I mean i have a mic but not mic specifically for that purpose.

room is 9' x 11' normal ceiling

Wow, that is small, just about half the recommended minimum of 1,500 cubic feet. You will indeed want a lot of bass trapping to minimise the boxy sound that small rooms suffer from. The nice thing about traps is that they are portable and you can add to them whenever you have the time and money, so use what you have now and get more when you can.

And you have a mic. Great! REW is free so you could have everything you need without any extra spending.

i'm finished. did three bass traps 6" and 2 broadband 3"

Now i'm looking to get a fourth bass trap who is cheap and has good ones? preferable a single bass trap but if i have to get a pack then i will

3 x 6" and 2 x 3". I would put the two 3" traps together and then place the four 6" traps in the four (wall to wall) corners of your room. That will be a good and symmetrical start. When you make some more you can make a 6" trap and then your two 3" traps will be free for placing elsewhere.
