Windows no longer sees audio on my second hard drive after re-install
I posted this on a couple of computer forums and have yet to get the answer to my troubles so I thought I'd throw this out to you guys cuz y'all are so nice. (It's related to computer recording in that if I don't get my computer working, I cant record
)
I have two Hard drives on my computer. One with the OS (windows XP) and apps and one with my audio. Due to a series of problems I decided to wipe the OS drive and start over fresh. I disconnected the drive with the music on it to keep it safe from mishaps. After re-installing XP I still had some problems so I used a program called Killdisk to do an absolute wipe of the drive. Then I used a Windows 98 floppy to run fdisk /mbr to erase the master boot record, in case Killdisk didn't. I then installed XP without incident and everything seemed hunky-dory until I hooked the second drive back up. XP sees this drive and knows it's there but it says it isn't formatted
What happened? Could erasing the master boot record on the master drive have erased it's knowledge of the slave drive? How do I get XP to see this whats on there?!?
Somebody on the computer forum put forth the idea that the drives may be formatted differently but I'm next to positive they're both NTFS. Dragon, can you add a face that looks frazzled?
