will these cheap foam "bass absorbers" work?

I would be very sceptical of trusting a company who don't know what they're selling!!!!!!

They are described as 'sound proofing' foam... they should be described (if they work) as sound absorbing!! VERY different method!!!!!!!

My 2c... Avoid like the plague!

To quote the ad:
It's simply excellent for the completion of your soundproofing project.
Snake oil. Bullshit companys taking advantage of naive recording enthusiasts and musicians. Think about it. How in the hell would foam stop sound, when even 1 foot thick concrete still won't completely stop it. Wrap your head in a foam bed pad and listen to a radio  Unbelievable. Common sense is becoming extinct.

As to "does it work?". That depends. Ask to see their ABSORPTION TEST RESULTS..it should be documented as "absorption coefficients per frequency band". Bet they won't provide it.

I'm starting to understand accoustics a little more thanks to all the great info I read on the BBS, but I would like to know something:

Those corner foam "bass traps" do LESS than what rigid fiberglass or "real traps" or w/e they're called can do? Would I be better off making one of the bass traps with rigid fiberglass? Thanks guys!

well I'm a renter, so I was hoping there would be an option that doesn't require me to drill fiberglass into the wall.

Yes, less. Much less. You can see a direct comparison in the first two graphs on the Product Data page at RealTraps site:
