Why the hell not...

What did I do on my 'house-sitting' trip out in the boonies? Well, I had some free time whilst working on my latest contract...

I wrote lyrics for this thing ages ago, and decided to try it playing it out on my uncles acousitc (as mine is a piece of shit, and I can't even tune it anymore). Add to that the fact that I am NOT a guitar player, never learned how, just fucked around until something sounded right...

So with a very cheap ass mic, a tascam us-224 (donated to me for use on NWR by a member of RO), borrowed headphones, and the 'free' Cubasis software that came with it, I put together a 'shortened' version of the song while I was out there.

The full set of lyrics is not there, nor is the instrumentation. Still needs drums, bass, electric leads, and lots of work on the vocals... (I sang really quietly, and you can hear it in my voice that I'm trying to keep it quiet, because the dogs at the place seemed to love barking along with me when I turned it up, lol)

I'll finish it when I can afford to buy a cheap acoustic to replace my dead one.

Remember it's incomplete as a song, and it's a shit mix, just to get used to the new 'toy'.

This song has potential and yes...A good acoustic will help it. I'd like to hear a more finished version. So get to work! :D
 
Alas, it may be a year or two... I don't got the kinda money it takes to purchase a good acoustic, and without work.... *sigh*

W: Is it my drunk ears, or is the git out of tune? Sorry to point that out :( Does sound like a nice nylon stringer.

Gonna listen to lyrics... sit up late last nite... wrote another song... shouldn't have started that fight... maybe I couldn't ... maybe I wouldn't .... just like you & me.

Some interesting chord changes that would sound even more dramatic w/some fingerpicking and a fuller mix (other instruments).

It's cool to get you in on all this fun :) Really interesting will be how this shapes up after some more progress... After we shit all over it, surely your song will come out all the better :eek: :p :cool: :eek: :D

Yeah, slightly out of tune, and poorly played. My playing needs a lot of work.

Was my uncles guitar, steel string, no tuner, by ear.

I wouldn't dare play it with my guitar, I can't even get the 3rd string past C because the damn knob slips, and the 1st keeps popping out of the bridge that's held together with duct tape.

Good to hear on nwrp2p, I haven't had any time to work on NWR4 with this contact, but completion on this contract isn't too far off, then it's just a matter of finding a job to pay the bills, getting settled in, and getting back to it...

Hmmm... guess it sounded like a nylon because of how it was strummed. Oh well.

I invision the song being about three minutes long, haven't decided entirely on the structure yet, which is part of why I did this, to help decide.

Just a crazy question..Have you done anything lately with NWR that would cause me to not be able to stream lo-fi? I tried to listen to your tune and got 10 seconds....pause...13 more seconds, then nothing! It's a problem I've been having for a week or more, I just can't figure it out! BTW...what I heard sounded pretty decent, I would like to hear the whole thing!

P.S., they are simple chords since strings 1 & 3 are permanently fucked (it's the head that's fucked, so no, replacing strings doesn't work) on my guitar, so using them to come up with a tune would be stupid...

bd, I noticed you mentioned that on another post.

Nothing has been done to the media server, only the HTML server. It works absolutely fine for me, and haven't had any other complaints on the lo-fi. Maybe send me a traceroute?

Hey Waldo -- Good to see you posting on the board.

I think this definitely has potential...needs some beat and a bigger production, but not a bad start. A little bit of wavering in the vocal, but, understanding you were trying to sing this quitely (so as not to annoy the dogs) that is fine (for now :) )

I also listened to the version with bass, but had a little bit of trouble hearing the bass in there.

All in all not a bad start ...

I'm also listening to Funk.......wow.....I like the loop it opens with......very "On The Run' sounding..........
Shit Waldo.....very cool.....I'm gonna start bugging the crap out of you to do more of this electronic stuff.....that's nice stuff.

No mix comments but I like the music on both tunes but especially Funk.

Amazing! I just listened to joro's trax and it played all the way through!
I still don't trust it, I'm beginning to suspect the dial-up itself! Explain what you mean about a "traceroute".
The player is musicmatch jukebox, which is just what the computer defaults to for mp3's.
I appreciate any light you might be able to shed for me here.
