Why So Many Home Songs Suck

Im talking just regular live venues. Bands are having a hard time getting gigs cause of the economy, who wants to pay 5 bucks for a beer, when they can get a six for nearly the same price and stay home.

People are not as interested in music as they used to be, i guess the net gives them more options, such as commenting here.

Sad, but a musician used to have a valuable service to offer people, now they have nothing.

I would go for the guitar too, but next month you might wanna get out and see some live music.
I'm primarily a live player and I play 5-7 nights a week. Yes, it's getting harder for bands to find gigs. But all that means is you have to be good enough. The ones that aren't good don't gig. I gig more than about anyone around here. I love what I do even though it means from time to time I run into know-nothings such as yourself.

Someone ban this troll please.

Awww your comments didnt win against me, so now u cry for banning. How bout instead of trying to act like a bigshot board saving commenter, try to figure out what Im saying.

There's also alot of bullshit, It wasnt about me recording or not, it was why songs you hear on forums suck, because people like you think you are singer, songwriter, band, engineer and producer, trying to play along to a click track and thinking it's a vibrant way to make music.

They are not doing it for fun, they are doing it to show the music off online. Maybe THAT is the fun
dude ...... I've played for a living for over 40 years. Something like 15,000 gigs. And I walk into somewhere ..... play with a band and immediately get called for gigs with them.
I majored in music .... play sax/guitar/bass at a VERY high level and work with anyone I want to work with.
I can play any Beatles songs without even thinking about it down to the nuances you mention but aren't capable of hearing
. Now ...... playing Coltrane does get a little more demanding of my attention.

I can back up what I say. You're just a talentless troll that's bitter 'cause he can't do jack.

U make a living recording, lets not change to a more loseable conversation, where is your professional recording work?
I make a living PLAYING live dumbass ..... the very thing you say people should do.

And I don't have to justify or prove myself to you.
But then, in two weeks I am getting inducted into the Lousiana Music Hall of Fame ........ but I guess I must suck for that to be happening.
:laughings:

The UK is not here

*looks around* funny, it seems to still be here, but, fair enough, the UK isn't the whole world but the point is still valid. Your "nation in poverty = music gear as a waste of money" may be true of some countries but, lets not forget, the UK economy was/is just as screwed as the US's and the point was live music, therefore gear for music, is still bringing in a lot of money for the nations economy. If i can find the powerpoint there's a excellent article from the UK government saying how the creative sector (media, arts, music, performing arts) in the UK has been one of the few areas to be unaffected by the economic downturn and they go as far as to suggest that the creative sector will be the saviour of the economy.

then again, if you are so concerned about your nations economy, why not get off the internet and go and do something to help. Start a company and create jobs for your local area (it doesn't have to be music related, what else are you good at?) Do some volunteer work at a charity. You can afford the internet therefore i'm guessing you have money to spare (similar to the assumptions you made about peoples socio-economic status earlier founded on little or no evidence) so why not donate some of that money to a good cause. You don't need music to do this, just a good heart.

wow ..... SO good he could be George in a Beatles trinute band ...... so you don't even know what makes a good guitarist do ya'. I love the Beatles but there's nothing George ever played that was very difficult for even a mediocre guitarist.

Yeah, I'm shit and I can play most Beatles stuff (and have played some live in the past).

Post yourself playing most beatles stuff on youtube, ill have a look.

It's chops too, not just playing what they played, you need to play the parts like a pro would, not like a chump going through the motions, and playing it tight with the band, and performing it without missing a beat. You are clearly clueless.

I don't have a band to play oh so tight with and playing most Beatles stuff would take rather more time than I have, not that I would do so for you anyway. Anyhoo, that would constitute a home recording and would automatically suck, no? Nice alliteration, btw

Doesn't performing in a tribute band constitute playing what they played?

WOW! 200 some comments in 1 day! That was fast.

This guy is dumb.

What even was his point? That the quality of recordings suck? Or that the actual songs suck? Those statements would be an insult to me. I can play MUCH more demanding pieces on the guitar than many pros out there strumming their electrics. The quality? That's funny as well.

Seems later on, he moved his entire point to "Well okay, you may be good, but it's futile to play."

And he never listened to us.....

yeah, he seemed to have revolving arguments. I thought people were enjoying the banter, but it was starting to get ugly.

Yeah, I enjoyed it for a while. Good ole troll bashing. But it just became annoying today...

Back to life as usual. :)

lol he`ll be back next weekend in another guise with another thread to suck us all into :D

You must spread some
Reputation around before
giving it to Chili again.

Too bad chili and jimmy weren't running for president. I would have voted for them.
