I used to be in a band...that is, until we all seemed to go different ways on the road of life. I'm sure this is the case for a lot of other people on this site...not to mention many of the artists we individually look up to and respect. But if you look at the lists of attempts by anyone who has made their mark as an innovative artist, the number of times they have failed far outweigh the one time they actually got somewhere. That's why I'd like to suggest creating some type of forum on this site for finding other people in the same area with similar musical interests. A lot of people on here, as I've quickly found out, really know a lot about (and have a lot of experience in) the process of creating music. So why don't we find ways of collaborating in hopes of coming up with something even better than what we could originally conceive of? I think it'd be awesome if this thread could spark something to help people in all locations to create new bands and even new music.

As for me, I'm currently trying to start a new metal-style metal band with a lot more electronic influences and atmospheric/classical additions. Kind of like a visual soundtrack with a metal voice. I also live in the Santa Barbara area (CA). Feel free to email me if you'd like to talk about possibly working with me on some songs.

Hopefully more people out there besides me are looking for people of similar interests to help each other recognize their visions for songwriting. Good luck everyone :)

I think that is is always good to know of other musicians/songwriters, whatever in your area. It is very hard to find genuine kindred spirits that really get what it's all about though. In my case, I met some local musicians but no real friendships or cooperations have developed. I've had some bad experiences but I am still game with musical networking under the right conditions.

I am located in Las Vegas. Singer/Songwriter. I play mostly contemporary folk but dabble a little in rock. I am just learning to really play my Godin electric and am loving it.

DVS hey man im actually moving to Long Beach in about two weeks. I will be looking for people to hook up with or bounce ideas off of when i get there so i dont have to spend every day sitting in front of my computer recording for me myself and i.

hehe,
lots of people share this idea, i'm one of them,
i've been trying it for years, just for fun, never lost any money with it,
and this year i'm gonna try it again,
but only with local underground artists, people i can really meet

i used to have 21 bands gathered, in the beginning it kicked ass,
people were working together, there were collabs and stuff,
we had our first compilation cd ready and mastered,

but it always dies after a while, so this time i'm only putting bands together that are from the same country;..mine;.. :D

and it does work for a while ;.. thanx to me a bunch of bands found sax players, drummers, little studio's, recorded sucky demo's but got live gigs thanks to it

i only concentrate on underground, broke and not highly talented bands,
because they are real easy to contact, but you can't do real serious shit with them,

maybe one day i'll have enough expierience to start something REAL serious

anywayz, you can try it yourself, as long as its for fun and you don't invest any money in it, it won't harm, of course, its hard not to waste money,
think about Web design, webhosting, all the trafic of your website,
meeting bands at cafés or clubs costs money (think about all the drugs'n'beer)

oh, well, if you really wanna do it, why don't we talk about it via email or whatever, but i warn you, i'm not in it for the money, only for the fun,
since its real fucking hard to get anything back

i try to earn $$ by recording small bands, all the stuff i do besides that are just Extra's....and the less money is attached to your projects, the less stress you have
