Why when i put the output to 1-2 the mbox records my playback with out me touching anything, but wen i put everything on output 2 it stops, its geting annoying that every track i have to put it on output 2 and then to hear it back good to output 1-2.(running on pro tools 8 hd on mac)

Not sure what you are saying, but it sounds like you have your settings so that your recorded track monitor feed is routed back to your armed track. Check all your settings.

Im recording my guitar one by one since its an mbox , so im on the 1st track i do rhythm guitar, so now i open track two and try to do lead but what happens is that when i go to record it records the 1st track that i already did,, can it be my interface or pro tools?

What exactly do you mean here?
Do you mean the contents of track one start to record (or bounce) across to track two, or that your live playing just records onto track one again instead of two?

Go to 'Setup' -> 'Playback engine', and select your mbox; Don't pick aggregate device.
If PT wants to close/reopen, do it.

No go into Setup -> I/O.
Go to the input tab. Select all of the paths and delete them. Once done, hit default.
Now go to the output tab. Select all of the paths and delete them. Once done, hit default.

Close out of the IO page and return to your session. Make sure all tracks (inc master) have the output set as main 1+2 or output 1+2...whatever PT is calling it.

Set one mono audio track's input to 'input 1', and another mono audio track's input to 'input 2'.

Try it now and let us know what happens.

I tryed what you said and still but thanks ,and i mean track one starts to record across to track 2 not only the track but it also does the metronome too

Sounds like you're somehow using track 1 as an input to track 2 by the sound of it. It'll be a routing issue in your software somewhere rather than your interface, I suspect. I'm not familiar with PT, unfortunately.

When you record something on track one then RTZ and hit play, can you hear it?
If you have any sends assigned, take them out for now.

If there are no sends and you can hear playback, please post a screen dump of your mix window. (shift-apple-3)

It should look like this, although the names may differ slightly.

yes i can hear the playback and it records the playback not only that one track Screen Shot 2013-08-16 at 6.36.54 PM.webp

You have setup a mono master track.
I can't see that it would cause your problem, but delete it and create a stereo master with output assigned to 1+2.

Stupid question, but.....
Where do your cables go to from output 1+2 on the mbox?

Incidentally, Pro Tools m-powered does not support the mbox range.
What interface do you have?

okay, and yes on the mbox i open pro tools 8 hd and still the same and i have the mbox 2 Screen Shot 2013-08-16 at 6.56.46 PM.webp

Apologies if I'm wrong, but the only way I can think of that would allow PT HD and M-powered to open with an mbox 2 as the interface is if you were using cracked versions.
Is that the case?

well i recently brought this off of and friend and all these programs are here and how can you tell if its cracked?!?

Well, from a moral point of view, you didn't pay for a licence to use this software. Your friend retained that unless he completed a PT transfer of ownership for hardware (to which software licenses are inextricably tied).

Saying that, I doubt your friend ever owned a license because PT M-powered won't open without a supported Maudio interface, and PT HD won't open without HD core cards, or whatever they're called.
The fact that you can open it without the appropriate hardware suggests it's cracked.

If you have an mbox 2 you should have your own licence for PT 8 LE.
The only way you wouldn't is if you bought it used and the seller didn't transfer the license; He should have.

If you don't have/can't get the license for PT8 LE, give reaper a try. If you like it, pay the $60 or w/e.
Either way, I suggest you delete M-powered and HD from your system.

dam thanks man, ill deff buy it now that i know, kinda got fucked over on that one :/ but thanks a lot bro

okay so i brought pro tools 9 since i heard so much good things about it , now my problem is i would like to put my sound back to be played on my computer and head phone but it only comes out of the head phones how do i fix that

Where'd you buy it? If it's new you should be entitled to amnesty upgrades.
V11 is the current version. V10 is probably the current preferred version as v11 isn't yet fully supported by a lot of plug manufacturers.

You'll need to be much more descriptive.
What sound? system output? protools output?
What does 'on my computer' mean? Built in audio, interface?
Where are the headphones plugged in?

I'm not trying to be awkward; Your question could mean almost anything.

Generally, people use their interface for all audio output.
To do that your speakers (amp if applicable) would plug into the mbox outputs.

In Utilities->Audio/Midi Setup you'd pick the mbox.
That means everything comes out of your speakers + headphones....protools, itunes, youtube etc.

I'm pretty sure the mbox headphone output is a mirror output, meaning it doesn't mute the speakers.
You should have a separate volume knob for each, unless your mbox is a mini.

Yea i updated to 10 and like i only get to hear it threw my headphones only not threw the output of the computer i would like to hear it threw both
