Hi.
I have a problem opening wav files around the > 1.5 gig size.
Anyone know how this can be resolved.
I have a super fast machine, CEP just does not seem to react when I try to open a file over about 1.5 gig.

Thanks in advance

Describe what you mean by 'it doesn't react'? Does the program start to open the session, and then freeze? Or just no action takes place at all?

1.5 gig's = 1500 meg's man thats a large wav file.

I have generated 1.5 GB data files at work (not audio) and if I just click it with the mouse the system (Win 2000) hangs. I had to go into the command console to delete them.

sry to get off topic...but what the hell is in 1.5 gbz of audio?

Cardy, I'm assuming you're trying to input a live recording of a concert or something similar... That is an ENORMOUS audio file...

I'm thinking that when you try to open it, CEP takes up more than the allotted 80% CPU usage, and windows kills it's function.

Where did you get the audio from? If you input a live recording or something, I'd suggest you break it down into multiple files as opposed to one large one.

If it was a 24/96 file, it wouldn't be hugely long. What's the spec of the file and what version of CE is involved? Are you opening it from within the program (file open) or double clicking on the file from the OS? The only limit I know of is at 4Gb (max size of any wave file).

Actually WAV files have a 2gig limit.... for example, in Sound Forge, for storage of WAV files larger than 2gig, you need to store them as Wave64 - which appears to be a proprietary format native to Sony....... CEP may have something similar.

Yeah...thats probably too much for CE to handle. Sorry to say, but you have to bring that size WAY down.

Cool Edit is good, but not good enough to tolerate that.
