OK, I've ventured down the path of madness modifying a preamp (mainly for the learning experience). Can anybody link me to a source for quality audio caps? I've made plenty of crossovers, but the caps for those are enormous at the values needed by the preamp, so I know I'm not doing something right.

Also which caps are worth replacing, the big ones or the zillion little guys? The goal here is to mod half of a two channel pre so I can hear (or not) the difference, so if I swap out the power circuit caps doesn't that affect both channels?

Wow, that was a great article, thanks. I guess it confirmed my suspicion that film caps are generally large. I don't understand electronics well enough (D in physics) to attempt the bypass circuit, so I guess I'll move on to another project.

Like I just had this idea for a radial surround panner with definable nodes to accomodate different surround standards . . . I did do well enough in trig to play with that.
